So i'm getting about 50C idle on this card, and around 68-83 while playing Crysis 2 with the fan turned to 40%. Idle fan is about 30%.

Few questions

1) Are these temps too high?

2) If I keep the fan at a constant 40% or higher, will there be issues like the fan malfunctioning? Even at 40% it sounds pretty loud and I don't really want to stress it.

1) They are within safe limits = nothing to worry about

2. My video cards fan idles at 40% and runs at 70% when I'm gaming. Unless you are really unlucky the fan should easily outlast the lifespan of the GPU itself, even at high rpm.

If you download MSI Afterburner you can configure a custom fan profile. 30-40% is great for idle and 50-70% is great for load. Don't worry about the fan dying.

I use just that, MSI Afterburner is really handy. I just try to baby my computer, the fan seemed loud so in my head I go "I don't really want to stress it out." Thanks for clearing it up.

At those fan speeds, the temps are fine. I prefer 40% fan, idle. And 60% fan, load.

no they are ok. I would say up to 85C are in the comfortable zone while up to 90-95C in the safe zone

Use Msi afterburner or Evga precision create a fan profile i have mine to go from 40% to 43% as long as the temp hits 65C and 46% as long as it hits 70C ( using a gtx460 )

If i let it at auto it never moves from 40% and temps get to 76-78C while going to 45% fans speed temps stick to 70-71C
