I have a setup of

e7400 Cpu

2gb transcend ram

g31m-es2l motherboard

390W Generic PSU

I wish to buy a ATI 4670 512Mb? But the guy i've asked to get it for me tells me it won't work due to a fsb problem.

He tells me to go for a 8400GS 512 MB instead. Is there a real Problem or is he trying to con me?

FSB is to do with the CPU. your CPU has a FSB with a certain speed, and then it's multiplied to = your core speed and also the speed of your ram. So for example a 3.0ghz cpu which has a FSB of 200mhz, and it will then be multiplied by 15 which = 3.0 ghz (3000mhz). The only thing your FSB will effect is your ram. If you raise or lower the FSB you'll change the speed of your ram also as the cpu and ram are interlinked and work together. So if you overclock your fsb by 10 to 210, that will bring your cpu speed to 3.15 (210x15), but it will also overclock your ram by a small amount also. So FSB is just the bus speed on the cpu which controls the speed of your cpu and ram at the same time.

Now video cards have nothing to do with FSB. The only thing you should be worried about is if your CPU will bottleneck your video card. And your CPU definitely won't bottleneck a 4670. So yeah he's talking out of his ass.

Nothing, really. It should work just fine in your computer.

You don't really have any probelms to take care of. Just buy the card if you like it and install it. If you wanted you could probably even get a much better card, such as gtx 260, ati 4850/4870. Even at stock speed on that cpu there wouldn't be much of a bottleneck on a 4870, on most games (if any at all).

No Point because

1)I play at 1440x1400.Anything better would be wasted

2)I have a generic PSU. The 4670 is the best card I can get which won't strain the PSU

4850 512mb would still give good performance boost at that resolution over 4670.
