I have a HP ZV500 with AMD Athlon 64 +3700, 100gig hard drive and whatever else.  I Just got Company of Heros and a Battlefield 2 game sent to me yet it seems my system wont run it.  I have tried to install and it seems I have all the computer updates.

I'm not in the US right now so its a bit hard to get help and support.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The card is an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440.

I did just find a pronlem,  I went to install that update, and it couldnt because the update wizard said it could not find the necessary software.

There's your problem The 4 MX isn't compatible with a lot of games, not to mention it's outdated.

Thanks.

Would you suggest I get a new card?  Would my computer still be able to run any newer games with a different setup.

I would hate to drop another 2 G's on a laptop after only getting 2 years out of this one, but when I'm not out working and get the chance to use electricity this computer is the best way to kill time till I return back home to the states.

thanks, would the 6600gt go into my laptop, should i get something better?  I'm not as handy with computer internals as other things, if I was to buy a new card online, could you be more specific on what exactly to buy so I dont order the wrong thing?

I appreciate your help.

Are you sure it's  gefore4 mx440? because that doesn't seem like a laptop graphic card, it's a desktop graphic card.

No, 6600gt is for desktop. nvidia use Go & Quadro series for laptops, that's why I'm wondering if you gave the information right? There's something important you've to know, an integrated graphic card is non-upgradeable (which a lot of laptop uses), even if you're using dedicated graphic card, upgrading a graphic card for a laptop is not as easy as a desktop computer. You'll need to send to factory for upgrade usually.

I'm not experience with laptops. But i think your graphic card does not support pixel shader which most new games needed if not all. That's why you can't run the games.

I can recommend some good game you can run on your laptops.
FPS- Half-life 2 (i'm pretty sure you can run this game)
Strategy- Homeworld series

Yea, definitly the intergrated graphics giving you the problems. As far as upgrading it, I would think you'd be able to get a better Geforce Go card, then disable the onboard graphics in the Bios. Not sure though, no experience with laptops, upgrading them.

Do you have a book, motherboard book, or anything like that, that came with the Laptop? If not, you could probably find an online manual for it. First place I'd look for a how-to, on upgrading it.

I appreciate the help, I may just need to drop the big bones and get a new laptop.  Maybe that one will last more than this one.
