Hi, I've been looking for some good options for desk/chair setups fit for gaming. Reason being that my cheap desk/chair setup now isn't all that comfortable to game with, has a few frustrations that come with it due to wiring and placement of monitor/desktop, and it's just plain ugly, but I don't have the room for something that gets rid of all those problems.

These all-in-one setups seem like the best option for me.

Are you still confused with what the hell I'm talking about? Here's a picture of one!

Maybe it's a long shot, but if anyone has any experience with these types of things would you mind posting what brands you think are good, and listing stuff within a price range of around $300?

And don't say the obvious "Obutto". I would like to compare if possible.

Something like the image you posted will be no where near $300.

Not sure if serious, going by the username and avatar. :?

Nope... Not even close...

Just the monitors would probably be triple that.

The one I posted can be had for $379, but with accessories you can end up adding an extra $300 or so to the price (if you want everything).

I also hear it's quite comfortable.

It's the best option I've found so far.

I wouldn't mind that one in the picture. It would give me a reason to play games more. I have really been on a gaming drought.

Yah, I'm wanting one moreso to make certain games a bit more pleasurable to play.

As I've stated my PC desk just plain sucks. It's too small, and cluttered, and my flight stick barely fits on it, and just forget about a racing wheel setup.

Buuuuut it's just too expensive for my tastes. I've been shopping around for better, and I just don't think it's possible. A stock Obutto runs about $480 after shipping, and then if you factor in the accessories to make it a complete build I think it's another $250 or so before shipping.

I guess I'm going to try my luck building my own since that doesn't seem too expensive. I'm just a little worried it'll come out sloppy.

Ikea has a nice frosted glass top desk for a bout 230 I was looking at. I prefer a big high table top to an office desk.

Build it yourself, then you can adapt stuff to your own liking. Go to a car scrapyard and seek out a still decent sportscar seat to start with...

Wow... very nice :) Forget about the scrapyard... even with shipping costs these come at an interesting price... Next thing to do would be to seek out a such a tubular fitness thing, second-hand, and adapt the frame, or buy some tubing and find a friend who works as a plumber (or a plumber, short stop) to ply the tubing into shape...

You know the stuff sign posts are made out of? The rectangular prism metal piping with all the holes drilled into it?

I believe it's entirely possible to find that stuff at hardware stores, and for a good price. You could easily bolt pieces of that together into a very sturdy frame, and it'd be easy to take apart as well.

That's what I'm going to try to do.

BTW that chair link is fantastic. I would have never even guessed to search for chairs that way. My only problem is mounting a chair onto some sliders that'd allow the seat to be adjusted depending on who's sitting in the seat (kinda like how an actual car seat functions).

I need to look into that.

Well, since car seats are sitting on sliders a lot of the time, just look in that direction. You might have to bolt the sliders to the floor, if that's possible, but when it works in a car it should work at home ;)

*EDIT*

When having highly expensive laminated floor, set the steering wheel on sliders/adjustable frame, so it can be adapted to the person sitting in the chair...

No, I'm definitely not bolting them to a floor.

Plus if I'm not stripping a seat out of a car then I doubt the bottom of the chair I may get will have anything comparable to what a car has. I don't know what I'll have to buy to get it to slide.
