great lan games

Hey guys,

My friend and I were thinking of buying the same PC game tomorrow. The problem is that we don't know what to buy. So if you guys could please give me suggestions now that would be great. The games must please be newish i.e. late 2009-2010 and no racers or puzzle games please. Thanks!

Co-Op: Left For Dead 1 & 2, Serious Sam HD's, Killing Floor

Borderlands

The obvious ones are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Singularity looks to be pretty solid as a shooter, too.

I'd say Bad Company 2, but there is no LAN, so you'd need to play online. Someone else mentioned Singularity - great game, but multiplayer really is just tacked on.

IMO Borderlands is not a bad choice. Also, MW2 mini-missions & CoD5: World at War's zombie mode.

EDIT: just realized that you might be OK with FPSs. You should definitely consider Company of Heroes and World at War, even tho they're a bit older. They still have great graphics, believe me.

Ah, I guess I'm assuming you have an internet connection available for those on the LAN as LoL can only be played through the online servers... seriously who does LAN parties these days. Such a hassle and everyone has broadband anyways... and headsets, etc..
