I have been doing this since 1993, and I can't remember a time when so many quality games were coming out at the same time. It has been so long since I actually had to choose between which games to buy and which ones to pass on (for now). Look at the reviews, the first 5 games are all 8.5's and 9.0's, awesome stuff. I think the "PC gaming is dying" crowd will not have an argument for a long time.

Definitely. That said, most people would probably say they didn't have an argument before the recent influx of games.

Right now I have so much awesomeness to play that I've had to take time off work. I was hoping to get through The Witcher in a week, but this game is just massive, how I'm going to find time for Gears, CoD4 and Hellgate I just don't know. And I'm still trying to find time to play Medieval 2: Kingdoms. And then there's Crysis on the horizon, and I'm still trying to find time to get a few hours of TF2 in every day...

It truly is a great time to be a PC gamer, and the great releases don't seem to be slowing down, either - with games like Spore and Assassin's Creed spilling over into next year.

I agree completely. I am broke after buying all of the latest games I was intested in this month. Of course some of them haven't been released yet but the money is already put aside for them. I've been gaming since the days of Ultima I on the PC and I have never seen so many quality releases in such a short time.

Indeed it is quite the good year.

I'm not sure if it can compare with 1998 (half-life and starcraft), but it is really up there.

Makes me glad to be a PC Gamer :)

I still think 1998 was a better year - but that might just be because I live in Australia and most of the great games I want to play aren't out yet.

1998 was a great year for everything though. Well. Almost. The iMac was relaunched in 98. :P

All I know is... the christmas presents I give out this year are going to be skimpy ;)

Seriously though, if you are a PC gamer and you are bored... there is something wrong (with either you or your computer).

You must be wrong, clearly PC gaming is dying. Or at least it seems to be pretty clear to some pests around here...

'98 makes this year look like doggie poo. I agree it is a great time to be a pc gamer, but not for me. Not many of these games appeal to me, not even Crysis.

January lots of MMOs are coming out... its is a great time but the overkill in releases might not let us appreciate the games because we will be out there buying more and more without really enjoying the game to its fullest.

STILL love this fall...

MyShoppingList

- Crysis (no doubt about it)
- CoD4
- Gears of War
- Kane & Lynch (the multiplayer heist idea looks amazingly fun!)

Last Week Picked up Hellgate London and The Witcher, Ran out yesterday, Picked up Call of Duty 4, Next week I'm picking up Crysis and then Kane and Lynch over STEAM, the following week I'm picking up Unreal Tournament 3, 2 weeks later I'm picking up Universe at War and then finally I'll have a retail break.

I'm not sure if would say it's the best year, but between the Orange Box, STALKER, C&C 3, SupCom, and many others, there isn't another single platform that is as appealing, not even close. 2004 was the last year I was this excited about gaming, although I still enjoy every year. 1996 and 1998 stand out in my head as well, but that was then this is now!

Oh, and then there's always Gears of War, Soldier of Fortune, and Blacksite Area 51 to fall back on later down the road....

It's a great year for 360 and pc... between pgr 3, halo3, cod4 (incredible online)and graphics) and crysis (incredible single player and graphics this is the most incredible time for gaming in my gaming life... I think crysis will shock me graphic wise like the very first unreal more than ten years ago (or so) on my pentium 300mhz and 3dfx2...lol

Agreed, and I'm also a little glad that assassins creed got delayed for the pc, if not, I'd be pulling all my hair out trying to figure out which games to buy this month.

Great point lol. Any other time I would be angry at the delay, plenty of games to keep me busy, or rather take my focus away from the real life crap that should be keeping me busy;)

Well, I still think that "ye aulde" days, mainly just before this new milennium of ours, were better. That said, this year is a vast improvement over recent years.

The Witcher alone, as far as I've played it (which isn't very far) might just make up for all those lame uninspired overhyped overrated pieces of *snip* we've been seeing so much.
