This may have been an easier question to answer 5 years ago... However I can think of a few that offer awesome sniping experiences.
STALKER: Highly rewarding sniping. In fact, the game is a bit more tense and, at times, chaotic if you play it using only a sniper rifle and binoculars.
Scarface; the World is yours: Altogether uninspired game with a few inspired shootouts, driving sequences. However, the limb sniping part never gets old. Shoot a dude's arm, off it goes! *aims for head this time...*
COunter Strike: Source: Darn AWpers. Well, actually its only annoying when you are being sniped, on the other hand, if you are behind the scope? Altogether different story. Rewarding BOOM! and satisfying icon in the upper right corner.
Battlefied series: nothing cooler than bullets losing velocity and falling over long distances. Realistic sniping galore!
Sniper 2: Never mind. Don't bother.
Hope this helps!
i don't wanna brea kall your nice and fancy bubbles but sniping in those games is easy as stelaing candy from kids. I mean you need to worry about gravity, wind speed, distance, bullet delay. MAybe you should check out cod2 with sniper mods...

Uhh Halo has the most unrealistic sniping ever. Try jump sniping someone in real life :D
Red Orchestra has the most amazing scope view and good ballistics modeling. Sniping is very satisfying, but it can be hard to grab the sniper slot before another player does.
Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint are fun to snipe in due to the size of the islands. In these games you can snipe from realistic distances and have to take in to account bullet drop and travel time. I have a great time grouping with another player acting as a sniper team in online co-op missions.

Sniping is pathetically easy in Call of Duty 2. :|
Operation Flashpoint is the best one I've played to date.rgsniper1
In either ArmA or Operation Flashpoint you will get a similar experience because ArmA is the sequel to Operation Flashpoint. Contrary to popular belief, Operation Flashpoint 2 is not the true sequel to Operation Flashpoint.

Yeah, I just haven't played ArmA yet. I plan to, just haven't got around to it.
I havent played a PC game yet that has really satisfying sniping and ive played BF2, cod2 etc.
Cod4 sniping looks good...I hope Crysis sniping is fun.
ArmA is probably the most realistic sniping experience you could ask for.GODFLESH_basic
Yep, ArmA would be my suggestion as well. I especially love the mission where you have to assassinate the officer. That one was tons of fun. My egress, however, left a lot to be desired since ther was a helicopter searching for me.

My buddy is always saying how great sniping was in Delta Force. It's a pretty old game now though, but it was pretty realistic and you had to calculate or guess the correct distance to your target and adjust the rifle or you would be way off. It sounded like they had it pretty spot on, and I'm surprised that hardly any games do this.
It would certainly make sniping more balanced, since you wouldn't be able to run around railing everything in your path :)

Ya, Shooter is awesome and Marky Mark is a badass imo.
To answer your question:
Joint Operations is the best multiplayer game with snipers. Very real, you gotta range your targets due to bullet drop and lead them properly. Very hard to master, but once you do you can make 800+ yard shots while lying in grass with your ghillie suit.
Best singleplayer sniper game is this little-played WWII game where you are a sniper. I only played the demo but it was very cool, very realistic in every sense of the word. I think you were an OSS agent disguised as a German so you could sneak around better. It had a cool bullet-time mode every time you got a good shot too. Anyone know the name?
