What card out of these two is the bets one? Performance wise?
The Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 or the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB?

That depends if you want to play at super high resolutions and massive amounts of AA or not.
A 9800GTX would be the better choice for the average gamer, but if you have a 2560x1600 monitor and you wanna play with 16xAA then the 8800GTX is the way to go, or the GTX 280.
At lower resolutions the 9800GTX will always win. But why would anyone be looking at the 8800GTX/Ultra or 9800GTX right now anyway.
Budget gamer: 8400GS
Mid-range: 8800GT or 8800GTS 512
High-end: GTX 280
Other deals are pretty much obsolete.
can you not read?Richy59
The 8800GTS 512MB is almost as powerful as the 8800GTX at lower resolutions for much less.
But if you insist on wasting money on older hardware than either the 8800GTX of 9800GTX will do that very well. ;)

Well a 8800GTX is like £160-£200 a GTX280 is like £500
Bit of a difference there

exactly, it snot like the over priced older graphics card is that much more expensive than the otehr one, but the brand new one is double the price.
I know that people are going on and on about other cards but I have a choice between 2 cards only in the options, the 8800GTX 768MB or the 9800GTX 512MB. What I wanted to know was what the performace difference is between the 2 of them and which one of those two cars is overall better.

for high end i would just get a 9800gx2
[QUOTE="Spybot_9"]8800GTX is better IMO.GodLovesDead
I don't know how you can say that.
Hmm ok becasue the 9800GTX is at MAX like 1-3 FPS faster than 8800GTX.Whereas in super high res with AA the 8800GTX can be way more faster than the 9800GTX which runs out of VRAM.So ya 8800GTX seems a card more ready for the future as it has the extra muscle which 9800GTX doesnt have. Please Log In to post.
