I have Windows XP home edition with service pack 2. I don't know about the memory thing. I ordered the computer from the Dell website, so they built it. It's a Demension XPS-410.
I'm starting to have problems with several of my games. Now, Splinter Cell Caos Theory won't run anymore. After it goes through the disk check, it gives me a error message saying that SplinterCell3.exe may have been changed, corrupt, or has a virus. This is impossible. I haven't modified any of the files in any way. I even reinstalled it from the disk, and I get the same thing. Also, Return to Castle Wolfenstein won't run anymore. When I uninstalled that one and tried to reinstall it again, I got a message saying the game is still on my computer, even though I uninstalled it and deleted all the files. I also can't play Red Faction anymore. The screen just looks like a garbled mess.
This is the one thing that sucks about PC games. They just decide to stop working for no reason at all. Yet, they are awesome because you can modify them to cheat. I wish there was some way that Pelican could make a functioning Codebreaker for the PS3. They could make it where it would automatically be disabled if you are playing online so that the online people wouldn't have a fit.
One more thing. I also have a 1440 x 900 widescreen monitor. How do you keep games that are 4:3 from being stretched on the monitor? When I go to the menu on my monitor, the 'Positioning' menu won't highlight, so I can't get into it. There is no option to switch between 16:9 and 4:3. I'm asking because most of my older games only support 1024x768.
