Cool bro, thanks for the heads up.Skullheart
No problem. I'm sure there are plenty of other gamers that are hoping to see another tactical squad based shooter that is as fun as OGR and the earlier R6 games, and Ground Branch could hopefully be it. 8)
Hope died when you said 360kyrieeeseriously, that usually means gimped or casualized for consoles. i mean look at what happened to americas army on xbox, totally different game. i will see how this comes along, cus i used to love the old ghost recon and rainbow six, but for now im playing the TC:E mod on wolfenstein:ET, its pretty realistic but only a couple servers run it.

i see where you're coming from, but he did say it's being developed for the pc with plans to bring it to the 360
that doesn't really give me the impression that the game would (necessarily) be consolised and shallow, what with it not even being confirmed as coming to the 360 or (as is implied) even currently in development for the 360
what kind of developer would create a game for one system with a design orientation leaning toward another system if the other system might not even get the game released?
a very silly developer is what kind!
While an old topic, it is still relevant as the game is still in the works and this was just posted for everyone to see.
[QUOTE="kyrieee"]Hope died when you said 360Croag821That's pretty ignorant. The system you release games on doesn't determine their quality, the developers do. Plus according to the OP they are making it for the PC with plans to bring it to the Xbox (like the Witcher 2).
GB is primarily a PC game with the possiblity of it being on consoles, but that is dependent on finding a publisher, which hasn't happened yet though one never knows what the future holds.
GB sill most likely be self published and if ported to any console, it will be to the PS3 as there are ways an Indie Publisher can do so though there are requirments that have to be met that are not as stringent as MS's XBox Market Place. It would still play the same way as the PC version and not dumbed down to appeal to the masses.

Those games are not comparable to GB. In fact, they are in different universes as far as gameplay goes. It would be like comparing apples and oranges.

Exactly. In 2007, the only examples we had of attempts to make this kind of game had gone horribly, and the one Rainbow Six game that was on the 360 was Vegas - which was pretty much hailed as the final death of 'old' R6. There were no examples to make people think it would work. This game is still in the works? I thought it had been cancelled. :/
If there's one project that needs Kickstarting, it's this one.

No, Ground Branch wasn't canceled, but he did cancel a project called Sky Gods. Maybe he will bring it back later, who knows.
Anyhow I posted this in a topic on the Primary Games Discussion forum:
There are some rumors going around that I can't talk about yet. I can say that John Sonedecker had this to say: "If there is one thing you know you will get from a BlackFoot Studios game it's going to be good maps." Remember that he is the man behind the maps for R6/RS and GR. He also said this: "Ideas are being kicked around presently! It is very important to me to only take money from people when I know for sure that we are in a solid position to complete the project and we are almost there." in response to a possible Kickstarter campaign.

I agree. There has to be enough old tactical shooter fans out there to warrant one. Because right now, GB is all we got. :(
Here is another peek from BFS today:
Remember that a former Green Beret instructor was used for the motion capture used for the animations and he and his buddies were major consultants to this game.

If you keep posting these screenshots, I'm going to have to break out Ghost Recon Gold to get a quick fix. :P
*shakes fist*
That's looking pretty damned good, I must say. Thanks for the eye candy. :D
Something is supposed to happen on April 16th. I don't know what and I am giddy with anticipation. I bet there will be more screen shots in the coming days too. I have been following this game for a long time and am ready for a new Tac-Sim to play, especially one with maps made by the owner of the company.

I used to check the forums more regularly a couple years ago and I remember you being an active member on those forums WhiteKnight. Has there been any inclination on at least a target year for GB's release date? :(
I can't really discuss a whole lot on what is happening other than what I have told you so far. Yes, I am still active on the forums and it is the one set of forums I check, even when on the road, even if I don't post necessarily. I pass on what I can as evidenced by the latest posts in this thread. I can say that if you have seen the previously released videos and were amazed, you will still be amazed at anything else to be released in the future or near future. As far as a release date, nothing has been set in stone yet.
John has repeatedly stated that he will not take anyone's money until he has something more tangible to give gamers (more than what has already been shown that is) and that is commendable.
I've been keeping tabs on this for some time now... It's been years since they announced that game Sky Gods or whatever, right?
Anyways, I was a big fan of the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, so we'll see how this project goes... I am not terribly fond of milsims like ArmA (as awesome as they are), but the tactical shooters of today do a very poor job of reconciling the more arcade elements of video games with realism. Pity there are few games that achieve that middle ground between fun and realism these days.
If you go by the BFS website now, one will see that there have been changes to introduce a new look and the launching of the new Ground Branch website. There is even a new Kickstarter teaser video posted as well as some new screenshots.
For those who haven't followed the development of GB, there is a term called NORG, the Natural Order of Realistic Gameplay, that development of the game is based on. GB is not developed by picking a gameplay mechanic and then developing a game around it. NORG has a different direction of development and it starts from the ground up and with a story and location. The GB website explains it all.
The Kickstarter video should throw in some teamwork/gameplay instead of what looks to be the training/tutorial video.
It is called a teaser for some odd reason. I would bet John has something else in store for when they initiate the Kickstarter campaign.
Thanks for the heads up, GR1 was one of my favs (Still play it from time to time with all the awesome user made coop maps and improvements) and same with the old RS games.
Will keep an eye on this! This and ARMA3 will more then likely feed my need for realistic shooters in the next coming years ;)
I know that some people here have been following Ground Branch for a while, but did you know that they started a Ground Branch Kickstarter campaing? The video is something to see if ya ask me.
