I have an older PC where i just want to have some good video playback on two 1080p monitors. So I picked up the gt 720 new for 40 bucks. It says min requirment is 300watt and my PSU is 300 watt. Am I OK with setup. I do have an 550watt PSU that has a noisy fan. Should I replace the fan in that one and use it?/or am I OK with the 300watts

Current specs.

Q6600 quad

6gb ddr2 ram

300watt PSU

On board graphics ( which isn't cutting it anymore)

@MonsieurX: well that's what I thought. It's a really low power card that I would be OK.

Let's just say if I am running over the PSU limit. What happens?. Auto shutdown safety?

@XxAK47xX: It'll shutdown half its cores and you'll see an Nvidia message say "The card isn't receiving enough power, so its running at 50% (or whatever percent)"

It may cause your PC to shutdown when it reaches it's peak draw, it may also cause your games run worse since the GPU or the CPU won't use their full potential.
