id say 460. I went from a 295 gtx to a dual 460 gtx 1gb and the performance is amazing, even on crysis. Id say 460 gtx (due to DX11) and SLI it in the future.

GTX 460 all the way. Its a good 30% faster than a 285 at stock and can be over clocked like mad. GTX 460s in SLi are 30% faster than a GTX 480

Um.. GTX 285 is slightly faster then GTX 460. The only advantage GTX 460 has is DX11 support and maybe price (depends on where you look for a GTX 285). Where did you get the idea that GTX 460 is 30% faster?

Those are considered advantages to some people. Some people just want the fastest card. Maybe I should have just said that the GTX 285 is slightly faster, since that was the issue being debated :P

Since topics keep popping out left and right about this card, I think is best that I offer my answer too. Mei wuv this evga card btw.

length/size 8.25inch gtx460 vs 10.5inch gtx285, gainward maybe even smaller not certain.

temperatures 32c idle seriously, 50c load oc'd to 850core/2150mem stock volts

noise level - I think I hear crickets, hmm maybe I didnt install it right I dont hear a thing.

power efficiency = 5850 on power draw, or 1000 percent more efficient than gf100 fermis ( i keed i keed).

Might I ask WHY you went from a GTX295 to a GTX460? What a waste of money. Unless it broke, or something along such a similar line. :|

I went to a 2x 460 GTX which practically out performs a 295 GTX from what I have seen. Crysis certainly runs at a solid FPS of around 59-60, GTA runs well maxed out (considering the game doesnt support sli, and 1 GPU on a 295 GTX is like 750mb est while the 460 is around 900 MB est) so I can get maximum performance without any dips. Runs a hell of a lot cooler, and it certainly doesnt take up as much space compared to the 295 GTX. Also, its a DX11 card, so all in all, it IS a better deal considering I sold my GTX 295 for a profit, and saved myself around £30 buying when investing in the 460 gtx's. (sold 295 GTX for £290, got the 2 1gb 460s for £260)

cheers guys i think ill go with the gtx 460, the gtx 285 may perform slightly better but after hearing about how the 460 runs better in terms of temps etc. it sounds like a better option one thing i was curious about is since this is a new card will its performance not increase with the coming months when nvidia release updated drivers?

Go for the 460 I bought one a few months ago and I absolutely love it. I'm probably going to buy another this month as well.

Preferable in the same sense a 570 is preferable to a 560ti..you have to take into account the price-ranges.
