Hi guys,

I need to buy a new GPU for my PC which can cost under 15,000 INR. So, I found a site named lynx-india and they gave the prices of all GTX 470s except one for 20,000 INR appx. But one particular GTX 470 in the list cost only 12,000INR appx. I also found the ATI Radeon HD 6870 which is a good GPU and costs near to 12,000 INR. So which one is better to buy? I saw in so many ytube videos that GTX 470 outperformed HD 6870 in most games. But if GTX 470 costs more, I can't afford to buy it. So which one do you think is cheaper better and the best among these two? If you are from India and know the rates, you could help me better.

Last time I went to India I had constant rolling blackouts. Do you have a backup battery power supply attached to your computer? Thats what I had to do because it was killing my hard drives

Money is lot different in here. I think most other places have less value. I mean could you get a better card than the hd 6870 or gtx 470 with this much money in there? Northern Sides of India gives cheaper prices. Bangalore is the only city I guess in South India where there is cheaper prices.

If you want to SLI/Crossfire later the 6870 is actually a better choice a decent amount of the time just because this generation scales so much better than the last generation.

I went to India maybe 12 years ago and almost every day the tv signal kept going out not to mention the lights. And no matter what never EVER drink water from the tap over there unless you want to die that is.

So you are telling me to go on with GTX 470? I checked the benchmarking and performance, temperature and power consumption rates of both cards. Finally I concluded that GTX 470 is a better card than HD 6870 but it is more power consuming. HD 6870 can consume less power but still it is a little bit costlier than GTX 470. So now, GTX 470 is my best optionI think which can be bought under INR 15,000. Are there any other cards faster than GTX 470 at the same price point?

Hey wait a sec. Check this out:

Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 ZT-40201-10P Price: Rs. 20,800/-
Palit NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 Graphics Card Price: Rs. 20,000/-
Asus ENGTX470-2DI-1280MD5 1280MB DDR5 Price: Rs. 23,000/-
MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 470 1280MB Price: Rs. 19,500/-

-Priceindia.in http://www.priceindia.in/computer/nvidia-geforce-gtx-470-price-india/

And also check this out:http://www.lynx-india.com/index.php?ukey=search

These sites show that the Price is near to INR 20,000. HD 6870 costs about INR 15,000. And so is GTX 470 costlier than HD 6870?

Maybe at low resolutions, but at normal 1920*1080 resolutions it's the 6870 which matches or takes the initiative from the 470.

In fact in this review it's the 6870 which outclases the 470 on every occasion.

So the GTX 470 should be much more in price compared to the HD 6870. But what about the 14,000INR GTX 470 in the lynx-india site given above. What's the difference between the other GTX 470s and itself? And also, can I get it for below 20k INR?
