http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-700-series-launching-midmay-geforce-gtx-780-gk110-core-gtx-770-gtx-760-ti-gk104/

The most interesting part about the report is that we have already been hearing about the GeForce GTX Titan LE for the past few months. The card which is a consumer version of the already released Tesla K20C would not be another TItan GPU but rather the next flagship GeForce GTX 780 graphics card featuring the same specifications. The GeForce GTX 780 would be powered by the GK110 core boasting 2496 Cuda cores and a 5 GB GDDR5 VRAM which was indicated in a leaked picture of the board itself.
The leak could now be considered true since it was mentioned that Titan LE was just an internal codename of the card, retail name would be something else and with a different cooling scheme compared to the Titan. It was speculated that the Titan LE, now known as the GTX 780 would be priced around the $499 $599 mark.

I can honestly say that I'm not very happy with nVidia right now.

I will very seriously consider AMD in 2014; at least they don't seem obsessed with f*cking over their most loyal customers.

depends on who is right. Sweclockers, from that article think they will only have 3GB, not 5. And we dont know if they will actually hit titan performance out the gate without any overclocking. I dont think you've got anything to worry about. I was going to get a titan or 2, but they were 1300 here in aus and I just couldnt.

You might be right, I have read that as well.

The vast majority of articles linked on forums I've visited today suggests 5 GB/near-Titan specs, but we'll see.

Id prefer 5GB over 3. if they are the rumoured prices I'll buy 2 in a heartbeat. Then I can finally upgrade my monitor. (dont want to upgrade my monitor till I have the power to run it properly)

Ouch. That's a bite, especially since you dropped that much on those cards. Still, as you both were saying, it's only speculation right now.

Yeah sorry about that didn't mean to sound condescending. In 2008 I paid $600 for the top videocard from Nvidia. Less than a year it was obsolete and if that wasn't bad enough it had heat problems.

This could really hurt those that are looking to sell a GTX Titan when people could just buy a GTX 780 instead. That really bites. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to AMD's next lineup. If AMD price drops the 7000 series, I might grab two 7970's or grab an 8970.

Well is a bit like Intel extremes getting beat/matched by consumer level intels that are released a gen or two after, except in this case is only a matter of months for NVs gpu line.

whats funny is that I predicted this would happen nearly two weeks ago.  I claimed the 780 would be half the price of a titan and surpass it by around 10%.  I still stand by this.  AMD wasn't expected to release their new cards till 2014 Q1, so this move by nvidia MIGHT force AMD to move their schedule up, but I doubt it.

I'm thinking of a possibility for Q1 2014as well for AMD.  Hopefully they come out late 2013.  I can't wait for AMD's next lineup.

I don't think it's a good move on the Nvidia's part that they released the Titan with a £1,000 price tag, and then releases the GTX 780 with nearly identical performance of the Titan for half the price after a few months later.

Looks like the Titan shouldn't have existed.

I expected the GTX 770 to be better than 680 by a long shot...

I am totally phsyched about this news since I have been waiting to upgrade for a long time, but I would not freak out just yet OP. 2 things here. 1 is I highly doubt this 780 is going to be THAT close to Titan performance. You will still have the most powerful single graphics card on the consumer market in the world for quite some time (prob till end of year and longer) and that is what any Titan buyer paid for.

Two... no way is the 780 going to be $500. Two reasons... one being they charged freakin $1,000 for the Titan and two, Nvidia has little to no competition right now for the what will be 700 series. I expect the 780 to be $600, fear that it will be $700.

That all being said, yea I would be kinda pissed a little if I bought a Titan and wanted sli, but couldnt legitamize spending $2,000 on graphics cards. That was the boat I was in. I want to sli and the MAX I will speand is $1,300 which is way less of what 2x Titans cost. I am going to get 2x 780's which in most likely hood is going to have a much higher performance/value ratio than 2x Titans, but that is not what a lot of Titan buyers paid for...

Anyone that bought a Titan either seriously did not think any next gen card were coming out this year or for big time e-peen reasons. Hey, I have bought for e-peen before as well, nothing wrong with that. Why do you think anyone spends more than $50,000 on a car that gets them from point A to point B? Bottom line Titan owners should not freak out too much, your e-peen is safe, you will own the most powerful gfx card for quite some time.

Don't buy cards that are 30-60% more expensive but only maybe 5-15% faster than the next steps down... *Especially when those cards cost more than the rest of your parts combined and it's only for gaming (aka not making you money in return)

Nvidia used the 680 to recycle a load of GK104 chips instead of using the GK110 that they used on the Titan.

This would be great for me, but would suck for the people who got the Titan. This would be a bad loyalty move for NVidia to do it so soon. I feel like NVidia knows that AMD will pounce soon and had to make a move earlier than expected. 2 months is too quick to make your 1000.00 card matched by a 500.00 card. Of course, the 780 might not scale as well or have a good cooling or as much memory.

Wonder if this will cause AMD to move the 8000 series up, Seems like they would lose a lot of sales if Nvidia has the jump this long compared to the rumors for the 8000's.

700 series is supposed to be a refresh of the 600 series so they won't be a large margrin more powerful. The 800 series is really going to be the *New* lineup in power jump.

Would make sense right? But, we all have to understand Nvidia is a business and they will try to make as much money as they can. So the most profitable thing is to come out with a new UBER line called the Titan and take advantage of the true enthusiasts as much as possible and look.... it worked! lol

But you don't expect to get bitten in the ass so quickly by the company that sold it.

Yes you can, you are majorly naive if you didn't think Titan was a short term type deal.

I can honestly say that I'm not very happy with nVidia right now.

I will very seriously consider AMD in 2014; at least they don't seem obsessed with f*cking over their most loyal customers.

I feel bad for you for not seeing this coming from a mile away.

I feel bad for me too. :P Lol.

You are going to max out every game for the next 2+ years. Yeah I feel really bad for you. lol

Might sell my current GPU and pick up the 780 GTX if these rumors are true. Near Titan level of performance for 500 is pretty sweet

Ben-Buja

if you're going to sell, then sooner the better since this kind of news will spread quickly and the value of your card will drop.

I doubt it will be the GTX 780. Still seeing the 7xx/8xxx series as re badges for OEMs. Similar to the Geforce 3xx series. The card might be released as the Titan LE, or w.e.

Would make sense right? But, we all have to understand Nvidia is a business and they will try to make as much money as they can. So the most profitable thing is to come out with a new UBER line called the Titan and take advantage of the true enthusiasts as much as possible and look.... it worked! lol

Jermone123
We couldn't expect anything else... But they are sorta calling their old flagship for a mid end GPU now.

Agreeing with me is never mean nor offensive.

GummiRaccoon

I know, I didn't want to sound offensive the user you quoted (since where basically telling him "how in the hell could you be so blind/stupid and no see this coming")

whats funny is that I predicted this would happen nearly two weeks ago.  I claimed the 780 would be half the price of a titan and surpass it by around 10%.  I still stand by this.  AMD wasn't expected to release their new cards till 2014 Q1, so this move by nvidia MIGHT force AMD to move their schedule up, but I doubt it.

Elann2008

I'm thinking of a possibility for Q1 2014as well for AMD.  Hopefully they come out late 2013.  I can't wait for AMD's next lineup.

meh, I doubt AMD can afford to pump out graphics card every year from now on.  It feels like they are the titanic about to hit the iceberg and then sink slowly to the bottom.  If AMD is still around in 5 years in the same form then i'll be surprised.  I will check out their new lineup too, but I always go for the best bang for buck product, regardless of who makes it, even if I do have a softspot for AMD.

With you 4GB 670s you might as well wait for 800 series or later.
