All you have to do is buy a $225 WETA Hellgate collectible before the end of August. Steep price, but the figures are really cool, especially the hunter. Too much cash for me, but grats to those that are able to.

Hmm, spend $225 on a collectible figure to join a BETA of an incomplete game, or wait a month or two and spend $50 dollars for the full version.

Are these closed betas meant for the public? Or for members of the press (who would have their sponsors pay the fee to get in?). I can't imagine even most diehard gamers being willing to pay that much.

"Collectible" is just a fancy word for toys for older people. Except they have even less of a point then toys.

[QUOTE="Swiftstrike5"]LOL! EA at its finest.DeimosPhobbos

You Moron, EA has nothing to do with Hellgate. Hellgate is published by Namco Bandai, and developed by Flagship studios (former Blizzard North who made Diablo)

I got my info here.

If you look closely it says EA and wikipedia also says that EA published it. It was being co-published last I heard. So stop being an ass and get your facts straight before you call me a moron.

Two problems with your argument; ebgames and wikipedia. Neither one a reliable source of information.

Will you accept the hellgate london site? or maybe the EA site? or maybe IGN?

Looks like Gamespot is behind yet again. Still says only Namco and Flagship. Thanks for the info.

To be perfectly hounest, I'd rather use that money towards upgrading my graphics card for the full game when it's released. I can wait :).

In all seriousness though, I really don't like this way of getting into the beta. It just seems wrong?

Zhokel

Seems like wrong and EA go hand in hand.

The closed beta is restricted to family/friends and some industry insiders I believe. There will be a public beta at one point. I don't see this as an attempt to make people buy figures if they want into the beta, just as a little bonus if you choose to pick up a WETA collectable.

That "figurine" isn't so little. It's 14 inches high which I'm sure is bigger than most people's monitors in height. The design looks pretty cool but not cool enough at that price.

It's a nice looking figurine, but that's way too much money for me to spend on something like that.

I could maybe see a few hundred dollars less than that but not $250. I guess maybe I would consider paying $100 or maybe $110. But that's just me.
