Apart from the bug that prevented you to play the character that you just created, what other issues did you encounter?

What did you like and dislike during the event?

I was kind of dissappointed by the poor texture quality in the game. Hopefully it significantly improves when the game is actually released. I had the graphics all cranked up. Still the render was DirectX 9, while my system can do DirectX 11.

I didn't encounter any bugs, and everything seemed to be running smoother than it was the first time around. Weird. Anyway, I liked finally being able to test out the swimming mechanics, and exploring the areas that I missed out on during the weekend beta event.

Definitely felt smoother. A bit of lag as the day progressed but not nearly as bad as the first BWE. WvW got quite a bit laggy at certain points, but bearable. Some serious team balance issues with WvW though. Our team had a score of around 28K while the other two had less than 15K. We basically owned everything on every world except for 2 or three nodes.

Log in issues but everything else was fine. Actually i did have a few lag spikes which were particularly annoying when attacking an event boss/NPC whichever u want to call it

Played GW. I still think the texture details of GW are a little bit better than that of GW2 beta.

The use of DirectX9 was actually deeply disturbing. I know they have been working on the game for a while now; but, couldn't they have recompiled the whole thing for DirectX11 before the beta; just so everything gets tested properly?

Its not the simple. The model for DX 10/11 is completely different than DX 9. Its a large part of the reason DX 9 has remained around for so long as you've got two fairly different codebases to support.

being a stress test, i shouldn't be surprised, but the game was lagging even harder than during the BWE. structured PvP just wouldn't work. i had 3 seconds delay between pressing the skill and the skill activating, and about 1 second outside it. aside from that, i got more used to underwater combat, switched my main weapon set for the thief to dual daggers, and changed some of my utilities. played mostly as the thief, since she was already lv11 from the previous event.

All other games shouldn't exist after GW2. It will change gaming forever and the way we play games. I am going to burn every PC game I own and sell my steam account due to GW2.

I will play it 24/7 and make a second life out of it.

I only played 2 hours yesterday, 1 hour on WvWvW and 1 hour of pve with my guardian. The pvp was an horrible experience. The game was extremely laggy and melee characters just don't work in this game. If you take an initiative, you die instantly, so I was stuck with my staff doing silly dps with the other ranged, not knowing if I was even killing anything. On the other side, I had a blast with the pve. I went from 15 to 17, but I took the time to explore. It reminds me all the fun I had in mmo like lotro

my impression is that melee will be much more effective and overall useful when they structure the servers to stop the lag. right now we can't even get out of the way of attacks properly, or aim, so using ranged attacks, which is safer, are the better choice.

So far so good but I didn't play a lot since I was studying for a test. Didn't had any problem at all with the exception of when the test was about to end, that's when I felt the lag.

Played PvE myself, and encountered no noticeable lag. I did notice a lot of negative difference in graphics and beauty when compared to Skyrim or Crysis. It just looks poor.

It's a bit of a long reach. I would never, ever, give up playing other games for only Guild Wars 2. Quite the opposite in my case. It's not the second-coming that many predicted but it seems like a solid MMO. I played enough of it in beta to say that I will be keeping my collector's edition pre-order.

well when i was playing PvE with my sword? thief (before i decided to switch), it was fairly easy to dodge attacks by using the dual skill, and that going back and forth in action and drawing circles around the enemy is something we'll have to learn with time.attacks are mostly telegraphed in some way, so you can dodge them (or would be able to, if it wasn't lagging)

Bruno, was that lag happening when you were in Kessex Peak? That was about the stablest experience I've had with the game. WvW had some delays, and so I left it. Structured PVP was mostly fine, but I ended up in odd situations, like 3 vs 2 and 2 vs 1 matches.

Check out Diablo III reviews on neutral forums like MetaCritic and Gamespot. One guy (Psychodrake) writes:

"Where do I start. Graphics - Woah. One of the biggest developers in the world can't even deliver a game that looks half decent. What is the bloody industry coming to. Not even Blizzard care about taking steps forward with technology. The game suffers from low-res textures, low-poly models and some of the sloppiest animation work I have ever witnessed..."

I am afraind, the same is going to happen with GW2 if they attempt to march on with last decade's graphics quality.

yeah. kessex hill was actually the worst area for me, if i recall. everyone would just suddenly stop moving (as if i had lost connection), then after 2 or 3 seconds, chaos. i even got it on video.. WvW i had about 1 second delay at most, so it was the most stable for me. if i recall it got worse when i got in the middle of a fight, but that's to be expected i guess. structured PvP was ridiculous. i was manning the trebuchet for a while, i had to stop charging it way before the bar reached the size i needed.

Only bug I ran into was one of the Chevron Ability quest giver... guy... whatever they are called... I accidently killed him and everyone else waiting in line laughed or raged. At a certain % of life his HP had to revert back to 100% and congradulate me with a bottle of wine (use item to give the chevron skill thing...), but instead he just died and his corpse started congradulating me and then he stopped responding to others and just layed there dead. I went around did some exploring and questing, came back to that village (he's part of the circus) and found him still dead. Sorry to whoever tried to talk to him.

That's hilarious!!! I remember in early WoW i had to escort an NPC back to a town and he got killed by a kited Lethon and his corpse followed me all the way back, like he was lying on wheels or something. Ah I loved world bosses and the ability to wipes out entire cities.

I think they scarified eyes candy (dx11, blur...) for a complete explorable world. Gw1 was extremely pretty at the time, but the max number of people on a pve map was 8, not 200 ;) and it was extremely linear. Still, I think GW2 look nice. Cities are just gorgeous and I had plenty of "wow" during my leveling, the art team did a great job to make all the areas look different and alive :) Walking in the city of a game like Lord of the Ring online and GW2 is a totally different experience

as a bonus, here's geralt:

The screen shots look nice. That's why I pre-purchased. But when we move around, the aritistic textures and low poly objects don't look very HD quality.

Incidentely, what are your graphics settings?

i was running it maxed around 30fps (being raised with consoles means you don't give a damn about 60fps :P). i'm running on an i7-870 (so 4 cores, 2.90GHz) with a radeon HD 5770, but from what i hear the game's so unoptimized it doesn't even bother accessing multiple cores or the video card. and i don't remember many objects or textures that made me cringe, they mostly look smooth. i recorded a bunch of videos too, and they don't seem bad to me (horrible lag aside). elaborate on the low poly objects and LQ textures?

I was hoping to see some in game specs. I have set all to max. Also I use nVidia GTX 590.

graphics cards don't really matter right now, like i said they didn't optimize the game, so the processor and the integrated card are really the only thing being used.

and what in-game specs?

[QUOTE="blackhermit"]@BrunoBRS Processor is Intel 2nd Generation 2600 3.4 GHz. In game specs appear when you go to the options menu inside the game and select video options. My in game video settings: Anti-Aliasing: FXAA Textures: High Terrain: High Shadows: Ultra Shaders: High Relections: All Depth of Field: Depth & Field Wait for vertical sync.: no High Res Character Textures: yes Renderer: DirectX 9

oh, that. like i said, i ran the game maxed, so everything i could toggle i toggled the best option possible. can't remember if i picked VSync, but given that my framerate wasn't that big to begin with, probably not.

They ddi said they want to try to get a BWE every month.... Here's hoping we'll get one towards the end of the month.

Played the BWE2 and I think it will be only fair to say things have graphically improved :)
