Yeah, not sure either; you are in the same position I am in. Best is to go to the brick/mortar store and ask. But seeing as how the Beta Access (cards?) are also given through the retail store, I wouldnt be surprised if all those benefits would only get recieved once you completely pay it off.illmatic87Yeah I plan to pay it all of at once (hence, pre-purchasing), but do GameStop or something give you an code to enter into the website so you can get the beta access? Guess I'll have to call or something tomorrow.
It doesn't matter where you pre-purchase it from. If you live in the US, then you can pre-purchase the DE and DD from Gamestop, Amazon and Bestbuy. If you want to pre-purchase the CE then you can ONLY go to BestBuy or Gamestop. It doesn't matter if you pre-purchase from a retail store or from the Arenanet site, both will give you the 3 day head start and the beta access.
The only difference between the pre-order and pre-purchase is that with a pre-ORDER you put down like $5 dollars and DON'T get a beta key and only a 1 day head start. With a pre-purcahse you HAVE to put down the full amount for the game, you will then get the beta key and a 3 day head start.
In the US, 3 retailers are so far known to partner with GW2 with the prepurchase thing. Meaning if you preorder from them it counts as a pre-purchace.
Bestbuy, Amazon, and GameStop.

But billing won't occur till the item is shipped right? It says that right under the version you want to buy. Just wanted to make sure. Well, I checked my account and there isn't any pending charges so it looks like Gamestop.com is sticking to their words.
If anyone cares, I ordered GW2 CE through Gamestop.com from U.S. and the total came out to be $170 and some change.
Why are you guys not having Collector's Edition at Amazon.com for U.S.? I was looking forward to pre-ordering/pre-purchasing from there. The only available places are at Gamestop.com which doesn't have in-store pickup and Bestbuy which doesn't even have the game up for pre-order yet. Just curious. Thanks! Elann2008No idea yet, but as of now Amazon and Arena Net are still figuring stuff out. First it was said, that the pre-purchase will no longer be available at Amazon, but now they're both trying to work something out, so stay tuned on that.
Actually, is there even an physical edition available that's for pre-purchase? I think it's only the digital versions, which I don't want, since it will take forever to download the game. Gamerperson33

So basically what you're saying is that the disc is basically useless then since I will have most of the game downloaded by the time the disc arrives. Or are the beta patches entirely different from the game, and they will make you download the entire game again, because then that's the only reason I'll buy the physical copy. Gamerperson33

So if I buy the physical copy of the standard edition, does the retailer send me the code right away for the beta access, and then later sends me the physical copy. I'm talking about Amazon here though. And thanks for taking your time and helping me out. :)Gamerperson33
I havent preordered Guild Wars 2 yet but do plan to, but I can tell you how it worked with Aion when I preordered it before its release. I preordered the CE version (physical copy of course) Once I had it preordered I was given a seriel key and through the website and registering I could download the client. Then have access to the betas and early access. Just as stated above, when you get the actual game you won't need the disc. Only if you have to reinstall later. Just update the client with patches.
So I'm assuming Guild Wars 2 will be similar.
and those that didn't know, Aion is now free to play.

If you want in on the beta you are better off with the digital copy, because you will have most of that hugh download installed before the game is released. I would guess you will get the beta in chunks at a time as they test different zones.
