I've been looking for some MMO's lately. And bumped into GW. Tried the free trial and loved it. My laptop can max it. :D The thing is.. Is it still active? Is it still worth buying the game? The game looks pretty fun but I'm afraid I'm too late..

Arena Net has said the servers will stay up as long as people play it.

So.. Are many people still playing it? I've been playing the trial but I couldn't help but notice that only few people still play it.. which is sad. I didn't know Guild Wars was this good. :(

Last year it had a decent amount of people. You won't find many in the outposts but in major towns such as Lions Arch and Droknar's Forge (I miss this city being the main hub :() it will be crowded. The game shifted from a co-op game to a singleplayer sort of thing a bit more due to the population decreasing. In the Nightfall campaign you get henchmen who can be customized with skills and a weapon which is another big reason why people play by themselves.

What you should do is get a friend and go through the campaign that way. If I hadn't beaten all of them like 15 times I would jump in and play with you :P.

Thanks a lot for the info. But is it also a good idea to play solo? None of my friends are interested.

Thanks man. I'll try. But I haven't bought a copy yet. Is it still worth buying the trilogy pack plus eye of the north at this time?

The game still has a decent population, you should try and find a large guild and their will always be people in those who are able to assist you.

Thanks you all for the help. Really appreciate. One more question.. In the trial, every time I go to a new area, the game downloads the area first. If I bought a retail copy, would I still get those area downloads?

If you don't mind the dated graphics, then yes, definitely. I really enjoyed my time with Guild Wars. Such a fun game and I met some really nice and cool people on there that I gamed with on a daily basis. Plenty of expansions if you find that Guild Wars is for you.

Wait for some discounts when Steam does their summer sale. $60 for Trilogy and Eye of the North is a lot to throw down for an MMO that's over six years old. For me anyway.
