I dont really have anyone that would play it with me, is it worth getting into? If you play it like a single player game is it any fun?

Guild Wars is a great game though its population is finally beginning to dwindle just a tad.
However, the game will pick up once again when new info on GW2 comes out.
There are still plenty of people playing the game, just not as much as say a year ago.
Whatever you do, don't listen to the naysayers on this thread. Great game.
It feels a lot like a single-player game, since it's instanced. Once you leave the cities you are alone with the people you grouped with. From that point of view, if you like playing solo a lot, it's a good game in that it has a story, it lets you play solo, and they don't charge fees. I had fun playing it as a single-player game, but it didn't give me my sporadic MMO fix, if that helps. Oh, and like others have said, the players in the game are nice and helpful, as long as you don't beg and spam in chat. :)I dont really have anyone that would play it with me, is it worth getting into? If you play it like a single player game is it any fun?

lol the game is...lonely. And with so many loading screens and not really much to do...its hard to really enjoy like you enjoy say - WoW. It is fun, dont get me wrong but I dont know people who play it and so playing myself wasnt very satisfying. Overall the game is shallow and the gameplay seems lacking because the fun dries up fast. I'm still in a 100 person guild with several like-sized allied guilds, they do plenty of runs every day.....it isn't lonely if you join a big and active guild.
which is probably hosted but one of the player's machine, I might be wrongshadowofamn1no its not hosted on any player's machine.
Account thievery is uncommon but it happens and it takes weeks to get your account back. By the time you can get back most of your character is probably strip down and/or manipulate in someway.shadowofamn1the horror story that is part of every mmo known to mankind
the 'outside' world is huge and yet empty. You won't like you are playing a mmo like ff11 or WoW.shadowofamn1this is kind of true. However, as AFBrat77 pointed out, if you join a large guild that is part of a large alliance you will find plenty of people to go about and have fun with, whether that's doing the different kinds of pvp, exploring, roleplaying, doing runs, or trying out crazy yet insanely fun builds that are deeper than spamming fireballs and then waiting for your mana to go up. having said that, i cannot say how much fun it will be for someone who is just starting the game. alas, that is something you will have to tell me one day.
I own original Guild Wars, my NO'1 MMO, sure people will now respond to this as "it's not MMO it's an online co-op RPG" whatever.
anyway, you can past about 85% of the game alone but then you'll have to play with other people to finish it, some quests and missions are very hard to beat, I would recommend you get some friends to play with online, it's much more fun that way, or you can meet people in game and do quest with them, there're only few people online at original game since everyone have now all expansions they moved to the expansion maps, get the complete pack which included original game and all expansions.
