Half Life 2 mods, Quick Question

I have HL2 and it included HL2: DM in the box. I downloaded and installed Zombie Panic Source just fine.

My friend is thinking about getting HL2 soon and I was wondering what is actually required to download mods? Does she only need Half Life 2 or does she need the DM game as well?

you need the source SDK...which comes with HL2, Im not sure if it comes with DM....

BTW, Zombie panic is an awsome mod.

Can you download the SDK? If so then yes.

Just HL2 is required.

but if you want to run Gmod I believe that would require CS:S too.

Okay sorry I'm still kind of confused.

So if my friend just has HL2: DM and the SDK she can play mods correct? HL2 the actual game isn't required? I want to know because I'm about to buy it for her so she can play online with me, but I don't want to buy the wrong one.

P.S. I'm buying this through Steam, I see HL2: DM w/ SDK for $10 (would this work?)

Just the SDK. It should say in Steam, Source SDK included.

PS: Try out Insurgency: Modern Combat, Fortress Forever, and Garry's Mod.
