Half Life - Episode 3 CANCELLED ???

A friend said it was announced at E3... if so, my heart just broke...

Only way it'd be "canceled" is if it was announced that HL3 was coming out.

Cancelled or otherwise, HL2Ep3 is a failure anyways.

14 years of hype will most likely kill Episode 3, and if it is indeed cancelled, the HL fanbase will lash out at Valve.

I actually read in an issue of PC gamer here a few weeks ago where Gabe is apparenlty said that Valve are done with the episode format but that more Half-Life is comming.

Why would Valve EVER release BAD news at E3?

What? No, why would they have a demo if it was cancelled?

I hope not. It is hard for me to imagine that Valve would drop its arguably most popular franchise and the francise that put it on the map like that. I think HL is an IP rich with money. I think they are just taking their sweet time making it perfect.

yes , that is true and they are working on Half life 3 , they stopped making Episode 3 and 4 and making this instead , hope they were working on upgraded engine all this time

Apparently they ditched the episodic development model in 2007, so yes Ep 3 has been cancelled for a few years now. Half Life 3 on the other hand is very much alive.

Yea its overrated, I can agree, But it does deserve most of its praise (I played it in 2008-2009, and it still deserved a good bit of it) I can only imagine what it would of been like back when it first came out.. So yea I would say it was a fantastic game..

Better than Far Cry (either) I am actually having more fun with Crysis than either Far Cry, and I honsestly think that I had more fun with HL2 than Crysis, (not much though, I have actually really gotten into Crysis)

I don't really care if Ep3 isn't comming though, Just as long as HL3 covers the cliff hanging ending of Ep2, if it goes from end of Ep2 to a whole new HL story, there will be some serious Gap there story wise.

If they've ditched the episodic format or not, i hope valve's next HL release starts off where EP2 stopped. God, it one of those few cliffhanging endings thats etched in my mind.

I have a feeling some of you might find this interesting.

Relax, mang, relax. Haven't read all the posts in this thread but Valve's probably on to HL 3 already. I don't know about the rest of you, but that's the least I expect from Valve after all of these years. Plus, now's as good a time as any to either give the source engine an overhaul or createa new engine for a new game.

well valve cant count to 3 because all games of valve was only 2 like portal 2 and l4d 2
