Hello all, I want to buy Half Life 1 but can only find decent prices on used copies, so my question is if I buy one used will I be able to play it or does it have one of those key codes that only enable the original owner to use it. Thanks.

No and what does decent mean to you? it's only 8€ on Steam (probably 10$ or w/e).

Half-Life 1 definitely used CD Keys, and so if you buy them second-hand...I'd say that there's a good chance that they'll have been activated on Steam already. If you don't care about Steam and don't want to play online or anything, then that might not be a problem for you. If not, you might be better off waiting for a Steam sale.

I've never bought anything off of steam, I prefer physical copies, but it might be the way to go here with this one. And for games over 10 years old I like to pick them up for under £5, I normally get them around for around £2-3.

Dont expect to be able to use steam if you buy it pre-owned because more chance than not the code's already been used, it will work but it will have the old interface, your best bet is to buy it from steam.

If you're not in a hurry wait for the summer sale, it'll most likely go down by 50% or more (depends on what Valve plans to do) they had sales from time to time that dropped the price to less than 1€ or 2€ at most.
