HL2-Kickass storyline...Good graphics and original weapons.Great character modeling. Fun mods...Doesnt take much to run on higth settings with good FPS Deathmatch is a fun addition

Bioshock-Great Graphix on an expensive computer. Fun gameplay. original gameplay setting and characters and enemies. Requires a lot of space (8 gigs?) i know not a big deal.

I personally found HL2 more fun and original with a deeper and more immmersive storyline. Especially the weapons. Also the enemies. And if you get Gmod then youll be busy for a while... Also Deathmatch and CS:S

Your opininons?

Your generic aliens take over the world story, or an biologically enhanced society on the bottom of the ocean? I can't agree that HL2 has the better story. Or a more atmospheric environment either. The weapons (and plasmids) in Bioshock are better than the majority of Half Life2's weapons aside from the gravity gun and the abilty to control those awesome Locusts). It's still the more fresh game in peoples minds too so allow for that in the majority of peoples responses. I for one am more enthralled by the horroresque aire Bioshock has to it.

Bioshock wins for me. First time anything has won over HL2 in the FPS genre ever for me.

There's one thing I thought BioShock lacked that Half-Life 2 has, which is character interaction. Every time you see a character in the game who's not a mutated freak, they seem to be behind a panel of glass, or looking at you through a slot on a door. For that reason, I think Half-Life 2 is the superior shooter, but BioShock makes a close second. Best game I've played in years.

I don't think they will really compare until Levine decides to do a sequel.

Half-Life will always be one of my favorite games. The storyline is wonderful and there is a certain weird and very foreign feeling that I get every time I play Half-Life 2. No matter where I am or what I am doing in the game, I always feel like there is something unknown around me at all times. It's almost like a paranoid feeling, where I feel like there is a lot going on that I am not aware of. I don't know how else to explain it, and a lot of this feeling comes from the G-man. The game also makes me feel extremely isolated within the game, which I think really adds to the game-play.

Bioshock, on the other hand, is one of the most artistic and creative games I have ever played. It will also go down as one of my favorites, simply because of the unique atmospheres and the superb amount of creativity that went into the game. The game is artistic genius, and is a testament to the fact that games are no longer mind numbing entertainment for immature kiddies. Bioshock is showing that video games are actually an art form all on their own.

Despite what everyone claims, I've never found the HL series to have a superb story. The gameplay isn't that AMAZING either. I remember my first play through going through the canals and what not, and holy **** that has got to be one of the most boring parts of a game I've ever played. I'm a big fan of being in a group of people and utilizing teamwork and I hate going off on my own without any form of communication with anyone for 5 hours of the game.

Here, i'l give you a weird one )) I think that Bioshock is deeper in both story, atmosphere and gameplay, than Half Life is, but simultaneously, i think Stalker beats them both. (there are many russian voices in the game, i was able to understand everything, since i speak it..i think this factor largely contributed to creating a very good gaming atmosphere for me..which is why Stalker left an impression on me unlike that of any other game. When i finished it, all i could say was: What the **** ?)))

Why compare Bioshock to Half-Life 2?

Half-Life 1 has alot more in common, and would be much easier to compare it to.

Bioshock gets the nod in atmosphere by just a tad.... but the Half Life series has the far better story.

Bioshock was alright. It's not THAT great. Half-Life 2 on the otherhand was somewhat revolutionary.

I think what HL2 achieved is way bigger than what bioshock even proposed to give us.

It was atmospheric, beautiful, had great gameplay and animations... all that multiplied by 2.

Bioshock, while looks nice and plays fine, doesn't take great new chances in improving or taking interactions to a next step. If you just compare graphics and gameplay without considering the years of difference, bioshock wins, but thats the only way.

HL2 was ok. I disliked the fact one of the first things you do when meeting an enemy is run away up the stairs to the roof. Bioshock has a interesting atmosphere. when going thru the tubes, you hear the sealife, whales singing and stuff, makes it seem like your there. I'll be playing HL2 again after I play Bioshock a few times, so my opinion may vary.

IMO I can't compare them.. They are too master pieces.. Like the famous paintings in history, they can not be compared.

Love 'em both, but the HL Universe is just so much bigger and more established, not to mention with a much more longer running history. Bioshock would have to transform into a franchise, and from what Ken Levine was saying on the latest PC Gamer podcast, there won't be a 2nd. To be honest, I would rather Ken focus on the next System Shock, that would be outstanding.

Love them both....but i have to go with Half Life 2, I mean it was the first....and the story is kind of deeper. I love Bioshock don't get me wrong but HL2....is like HALF LIFE 2! It sorta set the bar...

Alot of things seem taken from HL2 in Bioshock....

I have to pick Bioshock strictly speaking of the released game. I think it has a deeper story and the plasmids (for me) make the game much more fun.

But if you go past the SP, HL2's mods destroy anything that will ever be released for Bioshock. I mean (AFAIK), Bioshock's dev team has no intentions of adding MP right now, so that gives HL2 a huge edge.

I loved both games but I'd have to say Bioshock wins it hands down for me. The atmosphere in Bioshock was incredibly immersive and beautifuly rendered. The gameplay and storyline were also fantastic.
