Hey all,

I have the original half-life which I love. I am considering downloading half-life source through steam. Is there much difference? Will it be better to wait for Black Mesa when it finally comes out?

Well considering the only changes in Half-life:Source are new water effects and ragdoll physics you are much better off waiting for Black Mesa. It is supposed to be coming out by the end of this year so you only have about a month to wait anyway.

Wait for black mesa. HL:S is just the same game with the source engine over it. There is no difference between this one and the old one, cept for ragdoll physics, and some guys get nailed to walls like in HL2. Not really worth it, i got it with my HL2 GOTY.

Nothing special, unless you have to see the small changes or just absolutely have to run through HL again.

Like the other said water and ragdoll tweaks.

BM on the other hand looks sweet.

Yes , it's very much worth it, don't listen to these guys. The textures, lighting effects, npc and gun modelshave been greatly improved. I played them back to back to comparethe differences and they're huge.

I agree, Black Mesa is going to be great but if you still want a great experience you should pick it up, it's inexpensive and will offer you plenty of good playing time.

I think it is. I've been back to replay Half-Life a few times and I always pick the source version. Sound, Ragdoll physics, Water effects and some better lighting are the main changes. It's pretty cheap.

Thanks for all the replies. I have decided to give it a month, if Black Mesa is not out then I'll get the source version as it's pretty cheap. Thanks!

Half life is definetly worth it, source is worth it only if you dont have the original and black mesa will be definetly worth it.
