I've never played the legendary series and now want to. So my question is, should I play the original Half-Life or Half-Life: Source? Will I appreciate the game considering how outdated the original's graphics are today? Or should I just play Source with the updated graphics?

You could just wait for the black mesa mod for HL2 to come out (Which is a remake of HL1)

Which one is cheaper? That should determine your answer.

I would play the original... Really, there not a lot of difference in the two aside from source water and a few source texture here and there. Plus the original is the one i fell in love with! :P

It really won't matter if you play the source version or the original.

If you like it, but can't put up with the graphics, wait for Black Mesa

I don't think the original was ever updated to support widescreen res. HL Source with the hd pack ftw. Although you may find some better 3rd party texture mods. http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/15204?posts_page=2

It was. I just recently started replaying it. Running at 1680x1050 on Vista x64 with no troubles (Steam version).

I also have the Source version, and I think the difference in graphics is very noticeable. But then I still chose to go through the original version this time around, didn't I? Opposing Force is next.

I actually say you should play the original. In my opinion, Half-Life: Source feels completely different -- worse, that is. The control isn't as tight, the weapons have been rebalanced (and most are glitchy), and the "updated" graphics (which are few and far between) actually look really out of place and garrish, in my opinion. Besides, it's a classic game. You can't play it for the graphics. Black Mesa Source does look really awesome though. Play that one too, when it comes out. :)

I bought Half Life back when they were selling it for $.99. I haven't touched it yet. I'm waiting for Black Mesa to come out:D.

I've played half-life a few times, but whenver I've gone back it's always to Source. There really isn't a huge graphical difference though. get both :D

Original or just wait for Black Mesa if you want pretty graphics.
