well max payne 2 wasnt that good at all... but max payne the first one... was better than max payne 2 and halo 2... so
i say go with max payne one, save some money, and get something else ....
i miss max payne.. for its time it had great graphics, and actually performed well with them.. on lower end pcs
Depends on what you liked best: MP2 or Halo 3?
Personally, I'd get Halo CE and Halo 2. Max Payne and MP 2 are pretty much the same game, playing one after the other felt like one big deja vu. Don't get me wrong, both are worth playing, but they are a tad overrated imo.
Unless Halo 2 contains epically cheesy lines such as
"The sun went down with practiced bravado. Twilight crawled across the sky, laden with foreboding."
and
"You'd find that Lady Luck was really a hooker, and you were fresh out of cash."
you'd best buy yourself some Payne.

Don't take this the wrong way but this is from someone who rates Gears of War better than Max Payne...ahh the irony:roll:.
as the poll indicates...not even close.
I wonder, though, if console trespassing isn't common practice, a PC (Apple's "1984" CF made PC popular) game forum wouldn't have this kind of poll.
Even if you don't know much about the Max Payne games, it's simple math: 2 > 1krazyorange
well numbers dont mean everything lol... i would rather have 1 good game than 2 games that suck...
dont get me wrong not saying max payne sucks,, cause i love them.. well the second one was ok, the first is forever imbedded in my gamming history.. loved it... halo2 was ok.. just not what i would call a great game... but great soundtrack undoubtedly.

So... Which way do you think I should take your comment. Lol, you can't insult people's tastes and then go "Don't take..."
Anyway, I see I'm in the minority here, why am I not surprised..?

lmmfao, yeah for the rest of time... PLUS 3 MONTHS... SO HA.Max Payne nd HALO both lies in action Genre But still they got a different type of gameplay....
Nd as per my choice if I vote blindfoldedly My hand will vote for MAX PAYNE.....its gr88888888888....
I'm surprised to see some people saying "MP2 is no good" or "they're both pretty much the same." I thought MP2 was a far, far stronger game than MP1. Max Payne 1 was a rather basic revenge story that, while told brilliantly, I felt it slid towards the end.
MP2 on the other hand was brilliant from start to finish. It didn't go down the root with MP1 and its "Bigger is better" analogy. Instead, it told a beautiful story that is fit to go on the movie screen. The action was also ramped up a notch, and because of the improved graphics, new physics engine, and the sudden usefulness of the RightClickSloMo, the gameplay is a lot fresher.
However, this thread isn't about MP1 vs. MP2, so I'll certainly give the nod to the MP1/MP2 combo. Brilliant games, flagship for its genre, something I don't think Halo 2 did.

Those aren't cheesy lines, they are almost brilliant from a writer's perspective.

Maybe cheesy isn't the word...but the game's so heavy on the metaphors sometimes that it's almost comical. Still, I wouldn't change a single line in that game.

I loved all those lines. Beautiful.:)
This article sums up my thoughts about Max Payne.
I especially like these parts:
Here's a little hint for all you up and coming aspiring game developers out there: just because you've included a button which makes your character jump doesn't mean that us gamers necessarily enjoy pressing this button.
NOBODY LIKES GREEN COLORED LIGHTING.
Fortunately, Max Payne 2 doesn't feature too many of those offenses, although it does have really ridiculous dialogue which is supposed to be "film noir" but just sounds like a depressed goth grade school student who recently stole a thesaurus. These clunky, cliched lines were recited by paid professional voice actors who are definitely not professional but were probably still paid anyway. Then again, you'd probably have to fork out a lot of cash to convince somebody to seriously say, "I looked into the darkened, murky hole and the memories of those before me swam up into my brain like a grub burrowing into a rotting apple that fell from a diseased tree rife with pain and poison like a boar with AIDS dying alongside the bloodstained highway" when describing what the main character felt as he looked into his toilet.

Yeah, comical is the right word. I don't think Remedy ever thought that people would take the dialog seriously. I have to ask this: do some GS-users actually think this is serious **** and not a film noir-parody?
