I've just gotten my new rig and I need some help with halo 2 for vista, im running vista home premium and the first time I installed halo 2 and started a game during the first cutsceneit crashed a few times then I finnally got it working I play for a few minutes then the hole thing just froze so I had to pull the plug on my computer (after doing some trouleshooting I found out it was a problem with other hardware)

But due to this instant re-start helo 2 wouldent load it had some error message so I deleted all of the files from halo 2 and uninstalled it through control pannel.

Now theDVD will not load when even I click onthe DVD to start thesetup it gives me an error message saying that there are missing or damanged files needed to run this game.

Now I cannot play it I've tryed everything to get it to work but it just wont has anyone gotten the same problem know how to fix it??

much appeaircated

P.S: my system should be able to run this fine I've got Quad core, 3.5GBs of ram and an 8800GT.

Maybe the DVD is scratched.

I have the exact problem. I just bought my laptop last wednesday and i have about the same specs as you but I have a laptop {don't know if that makes any difference}. My DVD is in perfect condition {no scratches} and when I put in the DVD, in My Computer, the icon for Halo 2 does not show up. I also have Vista Home Premium-32 bit. So far I've narrowed the problem down but it could be that it is Microsoft's problem in respect that they did not copy all the files correctly into the the disc. I'll try to keep looking for a solution but I have eliminated the possibility of there being a hardware error. Right now, I am prepared to return the DVD as soon as I can find the receipt as I can find no help via the internet and apparently no one else that I have found has the same problem. I'm also having problems installing Microsoft Flight Sim X and a similar error message pops up. I think it must be a problem with Microsoft's Games for Windows as my multitude of other games by EA, Activision, Atari and so on work perfectly fine.

The problem could be that you still have direct x 9 on it. Halo 2 requires direct x 10 which i'm almost sure u don't have. Your graphics card will be able to install dx 10 {if you havent done so already} and it should work just fine.
