Hey all.

I've been reading about Halo 3 and it seems that all the fans are loving it. Its coming out for PC so im gonna get it, but i read that you really need to play the other ones to fully understand the storyline.

I've played the original Halo ages ago, so im gonna play that again to refresh. im then gonna consider buying Halo 2. i noticed gamespot gives it a 7.2 rating or something...compared to 9 on the Xbox...is the game that bad? or is it just console fans not being satisfied? is this game worth playing? i dont really care if the graphics arnt what they should be or watever, as long as the gameplay is fun and enjoyable.

cheers

If you consider the age of the game when it came to the PC, it obviously will get a much lower score.

Its Vista only so I'm not sure about the multiplayer population (and then theres Halo 3), but I think it doesn't have co-op, you will have to forgive the cliffhanger ending...

SP is enjoyable but... Short as any FPS... If you enjoyed the SP for Halo, I think its worth it...

For me Halo was all about multiplayer. Halo 2 is worth it if I can run it and want the story but I think you should wait for Halo 3 to be near for PC because Halo 2 will be cheap

It got a 7.2 for many reasons. First off for being a port of a 3 year old game. Secondly the performance hit the game gives even though the visuals aren't up to par with today's standards. Lastly the fact that, although halo 2 is an absolutely amazing game on consoles, there are better options out there when brought to PC standards.

Of course there's also the whole controversy of it being vista only(Although there is a patch that allows you to play the SP in XP)

yeah. well im running Vista 64-bit anyway with SLI 8800 GTXs. so graphics/performance arnt an issue. i dont mind short singleplayer gameplay really, as long as the story is immersive and follows a good line. if its gonna be a missing link that i need in order to understand Halo 3, then i probably should get it anyway.

i can grab the game for $58.00 brand new in box. pretty pricey fora game i may only play once i know, but when is Halo 3 due out on PC? i read it was coming, but gamespot has no details on it..

Halo 3, probobly in 3 years like Halo 2. I'm hoping it comes sooner but who knows. Microsoft is working on Halo Wars and the AOE3 expansion so Halo 3 for PC is far off their list at this moment

In terms of FPS stories the game is great, except of course for the abrupt ending. If you really don't mind paying full price for a 3 year old game then by all means go for it.

I just said there's a patch, I never stated a name at all nor where you can get it from. (Even though it uses 100% legal code anyway)

I know I didn't say where you could get it or the name of it either because I don't even know. I just said there was one.

I like Halo 2. the real reason why they game it a 7 was that its a 3 year old game and its Vista only. I dont have a problem with that. Multiplayer is the best! Everyone compains that you have to pay to play. (windows Live) But you can get a silver account for free. I play with a silver account for free and its great. Just cant make servers and such... BUT! I would wait for a price drop! I got the game for $16 over eBay and the retail price is like $40!

I said it before and I'll say it again... Microsoft is so greedy.

I would have to agree with that. I never really like the storyline of Halo since Halo2. Its ending was abrupt and unforeseen. But, the reason I spent so many years on Halo 2 was the same reason I did for Halo, the multiplayer. That's pretty much the main reason behind so many games success over the past few years is the online multiplayer. People love and live for competition and wanting to be the best. And I am not any different, that's why I love Halo 2.
