Halo Combat Evolved to survive the GameSpy Shutdown

Halo Combat Evolved use to run on the client of GameSpy, but ever since the announcement of it's upcoming shutdown, the game plans to switch its' client to GameRanger.

I totally forgot about Halo: Combat Evolved PC existence, and since this news, I have had the urged to buy it and play it.

I hope this news inspires others to play the game so I won't have to play the game in a lifeless map.

Not sure how Halo 1 is doing these days, but it had quite good legs for a mp game (and was fun). It's good to see it survive when a game from 2011 is dumped

Halo: CE had terrible online multiplayer. Every match was a lag fest and just felt unfinshed. I wonder if this will improve with new servers.

It's the master-server and match making that's changing. The net code will always be utter shit. Even over a LAN network I've seen rubber banding in vehicles.

Heh that's pretty cool, I used to play a lot of the multiplayer back in the day.

It would have been nice if they ported the remake that was made for 360.

I opened up the MP a few weeks ago and there were heaps of people still playing. You'd find a game quicker than some of the current match making.

Halo 2 MP was and is alot more fun than Halo 1 MP.
I'm waiting this MS' big "we support PC" bullshit to inlclude ¨"Halo 2 into Steam" because it would rocket the playerbase.

I too, hope MS would include Halo 1,2, or 3 on Steam.

Bought halo for the pc couldn't play it. I dont know if anyone remembers those old dells you could buy for cheap back in 01 or whenever halo was released on the pc anyway tried to play it and couldn't and then lost my cd key still have the disc just no cd key.

I don't see why not, if the community is still active enough.

I get rubber banding in my LAN with CE also. Its horrendous and quite comical.

Also this game is not worth the $20 on amazon! WTF its been over a decade and its not in the bargain bin yet?

I think I am going to install this when I get home! I miss playing some Halo.

Edit: I remembered that I have the MAC version, I wonder what the status is on that.... lol
