Hardisk Drvie Bad Sector

Hello guyz ive been having some trouble w/ my hardisk, the technician said

it has a bad sector... i dont get it, what is a bad sector anyway?

Can my hardisk be repaird or what? can anyone help me out w/ this, tnx...
