Agreed, the 8800GT is the same price but better, the powersupply is way overkill for a single card, and he might be better off with intel, espically if he's going to be overclocking.

Yes it'll all work, but for much better performance around same price you should change the CPU, mobo and video card for these.

Sapphire HD4850 $149.99 with MIR

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 $129.99

Gigabyte EP35-DS3L $84.99

The rest of the parts look fine, the PSU is a little overkill though. The Corsair VX 550W is a good choice and is more than sufficient that setup.

You really should change the video card to the Sapphire HD4850 as it's much faster than the HD3870, and it's only 20$ more after MIR. The Corsair 450VX 450W power supply is enough for your system if you want to stay on budget.

Yeah that powersupply can easily power it but I would spend a litttle more and get the 550w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004 since alot of cards now a days are using 2x6pin and it has it, You don't want to upgrade your computer in a few years and have to buy a whole new unit, espically since the corsair's are mean't to last.

I read somewhere that the 3xxx cards have some problem with AA/AF, and that the problem was solved in the 4xxx cards, so you might want to change that card for a 4850 or something different.

I'll try to find the article and post back.

Just for the record I built a PC with the parts that andyroo08 mentioned (CPU/Mobo) and the RAM you picked and I have no complains at all.
