I was gonna do it with my 4890's, but I think I'm gonna need a bigger power supply than my current 750w. Pretty sad about it :(

? No ATI cards do PhysX as it is a proprietary tech owned by Nvidia. I understatnd what you are saying though. I dont know if its possible to even do that on the same motherboard but your welcome to try. Typically you will find conflicts or it wont work at all.

As both Nvidia/AMD/Intel chipset with two or more PCIe ports support both ATI and Nvidia cards in single settup im sure (or i know that it'll work for most motherboards.) it'll work as you're not running a SLI/CF settup but rather two single cards. (or if you're running a CF/CFx settup with a third/fourth Nvidia as phsx.) The real problem is in the drivers, Nvidia has halted ATI cards to work with a Physx card in later drivers but a experienced user can do it anyway/work around it.

I was under the impression that Nvidia released a patch to resolve this very issue. The patch was apparently to disable PhysX if detection of an ATI card is made. This way people can't take the cheap way out. Although I could be wrong, however I've read this several times before.

lol that didn't work and Ati said for nvidia to kiss its well you know..they had that patch fixed like the day after nvidia released it. Agea or whatever said they would not patch their devices they sell. I think they want out from under nvidia and would not be suprised if they were assisting ati with CUDA.

http://vr-zone.com/articles/albatron-plans-9500gt-pcie-x1-card-for-sff-htpc/6707.html I believe this is card pinned to be the card that most ATi people will use. Still can't find one though so dont know about release or price yet. http://www.mymobile88.com/enable-activite-physx-run-on-ati-radeon-steps/

Running a Nvidia and an ATI card at the same time is doable....I've done it myself. Biggest thing is drivers....as of now they are kinda flaky....but so is Physx.

8600GT can't handle games that support Physx. Well Batman AA, anyway. That much I can testify to. Turns the game into a 2FPS jpeg show.

People are talking about using an ATI card for the display, and a Nvidia card for PhysX using the "patched" drivers available online. This is not a discussion about using an 8600 for both.
