Although i'm a "Hermit" I cant say PC can be included in the same way, technically it "Always wins" every year, because take this year for example we already have 3 AAA's and well endless AAs, even then so we get most of Xbox360's Exclusives the following year.

System Wars, Sheep , Lemmings , Cows , logically are just fighting for second place, but not everyone can afford a PC, so to avoid conflict, whoever wins stands by the side of the Hermits 8)

well yeah it always wins because the PC always has and always will have better hardware to run games. The debate people will throw out is, my pc cant play games as well as my X360. So the question is Is the PC better because it CAN make better graphics or is it not because the majority of PC's cant handle it

Every year PC makes hardware and software advancements and increases its options and capabilities that go beyond any "gen" at the time.

The PC isn't even in this war, its the big fat overlord sitting on his throne looking at the puny little consoles fight before him. Seriously to me, consoles are to Pc's what handhelds are to consoles.

I really think that the PC is doing slightly worse than the Xbox 360. This is because most of it's good games are being ported to the 360, which has had more of today's good games to start with. However, this dosen't apply to the glorious PC games of yester year.

I would never play, for instance, Oblivion on a console. It rocks so much harder once the modding community gets their hands in it for the PC.

Exactly....hell, aside from Oblivion and Unreal Engine 3 (which is only in two currently released games, one which is also on PC), many of the visual effects like directx 9 in these so called "next-gen" games were in PC games like Far Cry and Half Life 2 back in 2004.

HL2 is still waiting to get ported consoles now that systems like 360 and PS3 can handle its full effects where Xbox and PS2 last gen couldnt handle the full features of HL2.

Games are the only thing you can really compare between PCs and consoles.  And currently the PC is definetly on par with the Xbox 360 (if not better) and the future looks even better.

You need a PC in the first place, might as well spend the extra $400 to make it a gaming machine :D

What people will complain about is the pricepoint for a computer that can run the latest games. PC is by far the most powerful to run any kind of game, but there are also more things that can go wrong, such as other programs screwing up games.

The thing about PC Gaming is that it's an enthusiast market. The only people who are going to be deep into PC Gaming are the ones who can afford very powerful rigs that can handle the latest games.

Consoles are excellent for the large amount of people who don't want to have to worry about technical details, and who just want to get what they pay for and play their games. What's so wrong with that? Consoles and PCs cater to two different kinds of people. I like both. I have my gaming PC right beside my Xbox 360, and I play both of them regularly. Each one has pros and cons, and while the PC is always on the cutting edge of raw power, there are plenty of arguments on the Console side as well. Neither is superior to the other.

High-end PCs would play Gears of War without trouble. While I love the 360 and play it regularly, it is not the godly machine you seem to think it is.

PC is not a console, true, but it still has won the next gen war by a land-slide, and almost every good console game eventually comes on the PC, but not vise-versa. PC's only downfall is that they cost a lot to make a good one, when 2 weeks later you can get a better PC for the same excact price, can be frustrating

We must not underrate the gravity of the task which lies before us or the temerity of the ordeal, to which we shall not be found unequal.   We must expect many disappointments, and many unpleasant surprises, but we may be sure that the task which we have freely accepted is one not beyond the compass and the strength of the Hermit and the PC Republic. These ports made a many sad days, and that is indeed true, but at the present time there is another note which may be present, and that is a feeling of thankfulness that, if these great trials were to come upon our platform, there is a generation of devlopers here now ready to prove themselves not unworthy of the days of yore and not unworthy of those great men, the fathers of our platform, who laid the foundations of our laws and shaped the greatness of our gaming.

This is not a question of fighting for exclusives or fighting for "pwnage". We are fighting to save the whole world from the pestilence of Sony tyranny and in defense of all that is most sacred to man. This is no war of domination or imperial aggrandizement or material gain; no war to shut any platform out of its sunlight and means of progress. It is a war, viewed in its inherent quality, to establish, on impregnable rocks, the rights of the individual, and it is a war to establish and revive the stature of man. Perhaps it might seem a paradox that a war undertaken in the name of liberty and right should require, as a necessary part of its processes, the surrender for the time being of so many of the dearly valued liberties and rights. We shall free gaming from the cold clutches firm on from the Sony empire, the question isn't when we shall win this war. It is, when.

Well, PCs don't really have "gens" such as consoles, even if MS is trying to make it so by publishing games that require Vista. I guess you could say that Vista and DX10 = PCs next gen. But since we don't have any DX10 games yet it's hard to say how we'll do.

Yeah your right because when I played HL2 when it first came out there was no game even close to it and I thought that was next gen and that was like 3 years ago and most 360 and PS3 games dont even match it on the graphics side of it.

The PC does have the capability to offer the best graphics. Where is could fail is in the ability to serve up games that provide those great quality graphics. In the latest Games Developer Conference, the collective whine was the rampant piracy found on the PC platform, in comparison to the - while present - lower piracy rate on consoles. It was said that the majority of games these days on the PC that can remain profitable are either casual games that are relatively easy to code, or multi-million dollar endeavors that take years to design. The "middle ground" of PC gaming (where the games don't take years to design and aren't at the lower-budget level of casual games) hasn't really proved successful for developers. PC games do offer great graphics, but the ease of piracy makes it a risky platform for developers. If piracy continues, there's a possibility that the frequency of good games for the PC could fall, making it less of the next-generation platform that it is. It is, after all, the most expensive gaming option around. The PS3 is taunted for its price tag, yet the PC can cost double to triple that amount, depending on how far one goes in purchasing the best hardware. I also fear the new Games for Windows initiative pioneered by Microsoft could lead to a diluting of the quality of gaming found on a PC. PC vs. XBox 360 multiplayer games? Using a controller on a PC? This will only serve to make the PC less unique, and the games it offer less intricate. I believe the PC is the best choice for playing games. Whether the PC will continue being the platform that offers the best games is where there is doubt in my mind. I can still call the PC the best gaming platform, but more and more these days I'm seeing fun games on consoles with no comparable worthwhile games from the PC.

I own a high-end PC and a 360, and I must say, nothing on the the 360 has really impressed me so far. "S.T.A.L.K.E.R," on the other hand, is one of the best games that I've played in ages.

You know, i could have posted a long winded rant about PCs being better then consoles, but you summed it up so nicely. Nice to see there are still coherent people on the internet.

I will, however, add the over stressed point that video games will always be developed on computers. It doesnt matter how much you sheep piss and moan about "next gen" graphics, you wouldnt have your little toybox paper weights without computers to govern them. Some people like it simple, granted, i understand why some feel intimidated by "Quad what", "Dual who" and money that you nor your parents can afford, but dont think your winning some penis showing contest by debating it on the net. Its like building a snowman and thinking your god when you know it was god that made the snow.
