I guess you could say I have. I was part of GUI, an Xfire group that mainly just talked on Xfire chat and played CSS together. Not really a clan, more like a community.
Back when Jedi Knight Dark Forces II was big on the MSN Gaming Zone I was in a few clans, that game lasted like 6 years, loved it.
I had been on MMO clan but lost contact when the game i were playing died and they moved back to Aion and Wow.
Yes, but they've never been anything other than casual gaming clans. For games like TF2 and L4D2 it's nice to be part of a large scale clan where you know you'll be playing with others who: respect server rules, don't cheat, don't harass other players, and just want to play for fun.
I joined a clan in D2 so we could do weird party-based builds. If you've played a traditional MMO, there are healers, tanks, and damage dealers. D2 pretty much was all damage dealers, but after one of the patches some new support builds were possible. It just required some other dedicated players to make it work, since you had no way of soloing with some of the builds. This kind of coordination can only happen in a clan. I made a paladin with all the healing skills, one player made a paladin with tanking skills, two players made traditional damage dealer classes, one player made a support class that only debuffed enemies, and a few more people made duplicate characters in case one of the core players was busy. It was a completely new twist on the gameplay since we were all used to trying to get the best gear for soloing the hardest bosses. Besides this we thought we might try to get to the top of the ladder when it reset, but none of us could dedicate that much time. I ended up quitting sometime after we got to Hell difficulty, but it was some of the most fun I had in D2.

MMO-like parties in Diablo 2?
Wow, that must have been a really harsh change of pace.
I joined a pretty big guild/clan in guildwars, they were a lot of fun but sadly I didn't have enough time to play anymore so I had to leave due to inactivity
Yep, I used to be in a couple of Counter-Strike clans... this was about 10 years ago when it was still a free Half-Life mod.
I eventually stopped playing Counter-Strike after becoming acutely aware just how unfriendly the community was (and still is).
Used to be in a clan for Jedi Knight 2. It then branched into a community of multiple clans and multiple games, like Soldier of Fortune 2.
Definitely had some of my best gaming years in it. It was great being able to join a server and know the people you were playing with. It would be light-hearted fun most of the time, and then competitive matches every once in a while. Nowadays I jump into a public server and the games are taken too seriously. People shouting abuse at one another and taking all sorts of fits. I think that's the main reason why I don't play online as much now.
Back in the days of cs 1.5 and then in css I have joined a few clans. I was never really that big on it though since if you had better things to do, most of the time they would rage and such. I was invited to a BC2 clan but I just don't see the point and I don't even play it again.
Why can't you do both? I was part of one for COH, and for Civ IV.Nah, I decided to date and get married instead ;)

When I was 12 I was part of a clan for Enemy Territory called HC0. That was when I had nothing else in life to worry about.
