havent played a PC game in over 4 years. any reccomendations?

the last PC game that i played was CS:S. i used to play it all the time, but i kinda got bored of it because i played CS since 1.1.

anyways i just built a new pc.

I7 920, 4gb ram, and a 4580.

what are some good games to play? i usually play FPS for multiplayer, and i also enjoy good story driven single player games.

• The Orange Box
• Call of Duty 4
• Fallout 3
• Left 4 Dead
• Bioshock
• Crysis + Warhead

my recommendational titles to you:

stalker: shadows of cherynoble + clear sky (both excellent SP shooters).

warhammer 40k: dawn of war 2 (stellar multiplayer rts with a strong but uninviting singleplayer)

rainbow 6 vegas 1 & 2

team fortress 2 (if you find an orange box its truly worth the time to get it vs the $9 team fortress 2 by itself)

portal (see team fortress two for advice): puzzle based shooter with lots of fun in it.

"the path" (a $10 indie game off steam with a brilliant story with a solid set of elements, it truly is the most thought out game made in a while)

guild wars (online only free to play rpg) (decent story here with a mediocre community (1-2 million) with lots to do and see and for $40 for the whole/partial set you could do alot worse).

a reckless disregard for gravity alpha test ( a stellar indie gaming coming soon to shelves that is the most unique experience ive had in a while)

batman arkham asylum ( stealth action game for the pc (not yet out) that will make the msot of the dark knights tools and combat)

crysis (not a very good game but will certainly impress your buddies to see it maxed out)

call of duty 4 (currently the king of online fps for both pc and xbox and is a must have for thos ewho like a singplayer experience just as strong)

it looked good and had good audio too and perhaps the ai was good. but it felt to simplistic behind all that as rarely did you use everthing you found/ used any powers given to you. furthermore it felt short.

and warhammer 40k is without guns? i suggest you reroll to save buddy before my devestators eat you for breakfast XD

story: kotor, bioshock, witcher, mass effect

mm vegas is good and if you can stand some retro gaming try raven shield.

- Divine Divinity (A diablo style game but with much better story and more missions)

- Demigod (a very unique Strategy game)

- Killing FLoor (Another zombie game, very underrated)

- Mirrors Edge (Something new and differnt, short game but very fun)

- Company OF Heroes (Very good RTS game)

- Empire Total War (awesome game and up there with SHogun as my fav in the series)

- Dawn Of War 2 (Another good strategy game)

- Thief Series

- Mafia

- Baldurs Gate 1/2

- Neverwinter Nights 1/2

- Diablo2

- Stalker

Just go for The Witcher Enhanced Edition and Drakensang. By the time you're done with these two, you will agree that PC gaming can give you the most beautiful gaming experience.
