Hello everyone, I downloaded steam yesterday after not having a PC for almost a year and When I tried to play CS:source i look in the server browser and the server list does not populate. I have steam and CS:source as exceptions for my firewall (its windows firewall by the way) and the game wont pick up any servers. Also too I have even tried turning off the firewall and still nothing. Is there some setting somewhere in steam that can help me fix this problem? please give me any advice on how to fix this problem.

Try forwarding the ports that Counterstrike Source uses.

^This. I had the same problem in which servers were not populating. After I made my own game, I just let it run for a few seconds then dis-connected and voila, my server list started showig back up again.

My friend has this problem sometimes too. He also can't play some games because they just disconnect. His internet in general isn't very good. The servers work if you view them through Steam though. In Steam, go to 'view' then 'servers' and select Counter Strike: Source. That might work.
