I get my new computer all seems well. I than proceeded to install Windows XP. Once Windows XP installed I than installed the cd that contained the drivers. When installing the drivers an error message came up, saying something about how it couldn't find such and such file. Ignoring this I proceeded to install the drivers. I than installed WoW, and began to play it, all was well for a while until I began to get the error#131. I looked at the technical support page at Blizzard, and it advised me to use a program that would scan the installation for errors. I did this and got so many errors, that it told me I should re install. After uninstalling, scanning the hardrive, and defragmenting I than proceeded to re install the game. The installation only got so far before an error screen would come up with same type error that had effected the cd of drivers. So I tried again, and again but kept on getting similar errors. I than tried other programs and games but still got similar errors. I tried to install Warcraft 3 but got an error, soemho it installed anyway. When I proceeded to play it an error came up about the memory, as in RAM. So now I figure my problems have to do with my 2GB of RAM. I found it strange however that both my RAM sticks could screwed up.

Other problems that have occured.

CD drive won't recognise CD's until you double click on the CD ROM drive

Cannot enter cd driver disc at all

More but can't remember them at this stage

If any one has any idea, or any advice that could help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds as if XP simply didn't install properly, try repairing it, although you will most likely need to re-format. Try slip streaming it to the latest version of SP2 aswell... It may be that your disc is damaged...

Yaah perhaps. Its probably worth noting that I ahve a pirated copy of WIndow's XP. However it has worked perfectly with my brothers computer and my old one. Another problem that occured today was when Itried to install a CD of a game the CD ROM drive made these strange noises each time. On the CD there was slight damage to the outside rim of the CD. The other CD's worked fine but this one kept making strange noises

Does this happens only after installing WOW ? What's your motherboard ?
