I bought both this and Civ Iv Gold Edition earlier today and I'm having a problem with Beyond the Sword. The Gold Edition will load up and play but the othe game won't. It always flickers from trying to load up and then it says that its not able to render the textures. I just bought and installed my new 8800 GTS 512MB today and I would see how I could be having texture rendering issues.

What it will also say is that it might be DirectX or my driver installation for the video card. I uninstalled and reinstalled and upgraded these things for about an hour or so and I'm still having problems. Would anyone be able to tell me how to correct this?

Initialize Renderer failed. Check DirectX Installation, Latest Graphics Drivers and Graphics Settings

Parameters:
-width = 1280
-height = 720
-flags =0xc
-hwnd =0x70574
-adaptrid = 0
-deviceid = 1

Error:

This is exactly what I get after the game refuses to start. What should I do?

Try typing Civilization IV and the name of the error in Google. Chances are it will take you to some forum where perhaps a solution (or at least an explanation) is offered.

did you get the latest update for your video card ?.. If not.. I'd suggest to start with that...
