At first my computer acted completely fine. Then over time it began to perform less and less proficiently. Suddenly, it began to move exceptionally slower than a normal computer. Sure, i've tried everything: scanning for viruses countless times, removing PUP's, making extra hard-disk space by deleting unwanted programs I downloaded, the whole sha-bang. So it boiled down to when my me and my brother decided to use the re-installation disk to repair any software issues that may have surfaced in the time we've had the computer. Unfortunately, after using the disk and waiting for the computer to restart, the computer screen turns black after the Windows XP loading screen with the blue loading bar underneath the logo. After that point the screen turns black and stays that way. Can someone please help me out here?

put your hard drive in someone elses comp and get everything off it, then formatt your pc with a fresh XP and put everything back on.....sometimes you will not be able to access your documents and settings through an XP or any OS on another HDD....depends on whether you set your files to private when you created a password (if you did create one)....this is why personally i set my files not to be private so its easier to back-up unless there are multible user accounts on the PC then thats the only time i think you should set your files to be private......anyway try that!
