This is the only thing that keeps me from buying ATI. One of my computers has a X1900GT and another with a HD2900XT. I used to also own a 9800PRO. The drivers are what keeps me away from ATI and why I will never buy an ATI card no matter how much better it is.

If ATI would fix their drivers I would be glad to switch.

His progblem was that he didnt uninstall the old drivers before he installed the new driver. You're supposed to do that no matter what GPU brand you have.

Funny that.

NVIDIA is just as bad, if not worse, at releasing questionable drivers. However, this didn't stop me from buying an 8600GT for my office PC. :/

I mean everytime I installed a driver from ATI. Well almost everytime. I would get some kind of error in the middle of the darn thing. With Nvidia I have yet to have a problem with them. I do own 3 Nvidia Cards and 2 ATI cards.

Hi Well I have a HD 3870 and I just installed the 8.3 drivers yesterday. I never remove the old drivers and I never have a problem. I am running Vista 32 bit. I previously had an Nvidia 7900GS on this system and again I never removed the old drivers and the card ran great. However,on some of my old computers I have had driver problems where I would have to uninstall the old drivers. So I guess just keep in mind if you have problems just uninstall the old drivers.
