Im getting a gaming PC built and the guy whos building it for me says to go for the 9600GT instead of a HD 4850. I think otherwise but is he right in saying so? What do you guys think?

[QUOTE="Staryoshi87"]Unless money is a concern of you'd like to use SLI in the future, the HD4850 is a better card.RAZZY_B
sorry for noob question, but what does SLI help with? And what if i dont get a SLI HD4850? Or am i stupid and all of them come with it??
SLI = 2 x nvidia card, Crossfire = 2 x ati card. Motherboards support one or the other or neither, so it depends on what motherboard you're getting as to whether you can do either. If you get a crossfire-able board you can use 2 HD4850s. SLI/XFire is using 2 graphics cards at once for increased performance.
There are often headaches involved with multi-card setups, though, so I generally lean toward 1 powerful card vs. two weaker ones. That said, I may pick up a second HD4870 and a new motherboard in the near future :)

Oh i see. Thanks for the help. But SLI and Crossfire aside. Which is the new and better card for gaming?
