Ok I am a bit confused. On my HD 4870 there are two black connection points. 6 pin i think? Anyways, with the Vid card there are two "Y" cables, each has a connection point that fits with the video card

Thing is, my power supply has two cables coming out of it labled PCI-E. 6pin + 2 sound right? If I use the "Y" cables, I can not see where they would plug into the PS, ugh I dunno. Any advice?

The "Y-cables" are for people who don't have enough PCIe connectors.

Plus you usually don't want to use them.

Don't use the Y cables, use the 2 pci-e cables coming from your psu. The Y cables are adapters for psu's that don't have enough pci-e connectors.

Ok upon further inspection I seem to have the following options: The "Y" cable that plugs into my card has a connection with 3 pins that come out of it. Larger pins and they fit into the SATA female side of the SATA power cables that I have going to my drives (even though they have 4 holes) The other option is I can directly plug my cable coming from the power supply to the card and bypass the "Y" cable all together. That said, eaach black connection point on the card is 6pin. There are two of these points side by side. The cable coming from the PS is a 6pin + 2 pin. I have two of these cables coming from the PS. Is this just incase I crossfire? or do I use each cable's 6 pin on each connection pt on the card or do I just use one cable and only 6 of the pins, or 1 cable and all 8 pins?

Yes use both pci-e cables from the psu, and 6 pin as the HD4870 doesn't use 8 pin IIRC.
