Will the two be relitively the same?? What one's quicker?..

My resolution is 1024x1028 and i can get the 4870x2 for $160 more than a 4870, which is $450 where i live...

So my question is the 4870x2 overkill for my tiny monitor? and will the 4870 single perform all the games full at a playable res. and which one is quicker 4870 crossfire or 4870x2.

Youe help is appreciated..

I would say that the 4870x2 is, indeed, overkill with your moniter.

If you already have an HD4870, then I doubt you'll see a performance increase to upgrading to an HD4870x2.

if 4870 is $450 and the 4870x2 is 450 + 160= $610

DEFINATELY get the x2.

With that monitor, you'd be able to run Crysis on high with a 7800GS or X1950 Pro... Somebody has a lot of money to spend if they're getting a 4870X2 for 1024x768. Balance the budget out a bit and get a 1680x1050 monitor with a 4850.

I have a single hd4870 and can max crysis (all very high no aa ) at 1440 x 900 so yes ,even a single hd4870 is an overkill for 1024 x 768

If you really want to go overkill.

Then go for the HD4870x2 which seems to be better than 2 HD4870 in CF.

edit: But seriously, a HD4870 will be more than enough for that resolution.

128x1024? Uhm..Get a HD 4870.

EDIT: Get a HD 4870, and with the other money get a nice 19" or 22" monitor.:)

Hd4870X2 is overkill for your tiny monitor, unless you are a FPS freak then go ahead and waste the $$.

And is there such thing as 1024x1028? Don't you mean 1280x1024??

What the person said earlier, balance your budget
