the 1gb variant if you get a factory oc'd one yeah.. its definetely worth it especially if you oc it further.. personnaly speaking i have an hd 5830 (about on par with a factory oc'd 4890 and thats how id play if i planned on going nvidia but im happy with my preformance now as is.

I have the same card(4890) and i wouldn't do it.I'd rather wait for the next gen of gpus before upgrading.(ati 6000 series and the next gtx series)

u won't see much of a gaming boost. Power consumption might be a different story though.

I would do it if you have a sure buyer for the 4890, willing to pay a decent price. Just make sure you get a 1gb version and OC the hell out of it. Then you basically have a GTX 470 for $220-$230. I wouldn't pay the full shot for the upgrade and not recoup at least $110 or so for that 4890.

I have a 4890 and I'd never do that upgrade. It won't give you that much of a boost in games. If anything I'm going to be getting a 480 in the next few months. Maybe December.
