i got official benchmarks of a single hd 7970 (some cfx as well in the source):

http://www.donanimhaber.com/ekran-karti/haberleri/AMD-Radeon-HD-7970-icin-resmi-test-sonuclari.htm

results:

3dmark 11 (1024 x 768)/ :

entry- 11992e

preformance- 7972p

extreme- 2737X

batman: arkham city (2560 x 1680)

high /w fxaa- 40fps

max /w 16AF, 8AA - 25fps

bf3(1080p, 2560 x1680)

high- 80fps

ULTRA 0msaa- 50fps

skyrim(max @ 2560x1680) - 51fps

there are more but this is jsut a sample. by and large the 7970 appears to preform VERY well at resolutions beyond 1680 x 1200 and absolutely raped the gtx 580 @ an extreme multimonitor resolution of 7600 x 1600. benchies were done in games on an fx-8150 while fluids and multi-monitor were done using a core i7 SB-E 3960X, drivers used were CCC 11.11b, nvidia drivers used were 290.38

watch out for the return of the big red machine:

If so, it means it's gonna be about £700 here, which is over $1000.

I really hope it doesn't cost that much though :(

I already find a straight conversion from $ to € ludicrous, but a straight conversion from $ to £? Simply insolent.

That's how it usually is, it sucks pretty bad. GTX 590's are the equivalent of $1000-$1200 here :P

Same here. I don't know much about this stuff as I just switched to PC a few months ago but I wanted to upgrade my GPU and was thinking about going Nvidia. If these new cards are going to be 700$ eff-that lol. My rig barley cost that much :P. Waiting for taxes then I'll see whats up :).

That is about what you are supposed to do when you build a computer for gaming. Although, I'd say 40% on the GPU.

All the news I've heard about it (which admittedly has come solely from this forum) pegs it at 500 Euros which would be about $700 USD.

The official (read: paper launch) launch of the 7xxx series is tomorrow, so I think we should propably wait on the guru3d review before making assumptions. Also, the prices I've been hearing for the 7970 were around 400$...where did you guys get that 700$ rumor from?

Yes but in england when they tell you prices they include the taxes in them.

So when they say 700 pounds, they mean 570 + 130 in taxes. In america they add taxes after the fact.

[quote="Gibbo"]79xx shall be far far more expensive, which will have no effect on current 69xx pricing. 78xx not due until feb/march. 69xx stocks running low now, doubt there shall be any major price move, can't guarantee against it but seriously doubt it. Marine-RX179
sigh...considering your guys are going to sell the new gen card soon and already ordered the stocks, I guess your comment pretty much confirms the rumours of 79xx is going to be expensive as hell. It sadden me to see that company think it is perfectly ok to stack new gen hardware prices on top of the old in this recession, rather than pushing the old gen card prices down and replaceing their price points. I mean can anyone imagine what would have happened if SandyBridge pricing was stacked on top of the 1st gen i5/i7 on the socket 1156? Phenom II was so far behind 1156 i5/i7, but Intel didn't charge like £250-£350 for their 1155 SandyBridge CPUs. I'm guessing like people say, AMD is getting despite after the epic fail on Bulldozer and going money hungry, and hoping to get as much money as possible from people with more money than sense from the GPU side of their business....

Taken from Overclockers. Gibbo seems to be an Overclockers employee to boot. Ugh.

What's the point of buying this card? Not like any Dev properly codes their games to take full advantages of our pricey systems. Like our systems have surpassed consoles exponentially, so why make new cards rather than release proper drivers and let the devs get used to the architecture of the GPU so they can optimize / developped for them using them more efficiently.

That's the purpose of the API...

There are a lot of new features and much better performance in certain situations that justify this card.
~40-50% faster than GTX580, on average, is quite nice

I for one was planning on going with a 27" 2560 x 1440 monitor to go with this card, but decided against it. Still getting the cards mainly for 120hz gaming which this card will no doubt will be able to do with ease. Plus I'm not a big fan of SLI and crossfire, have always prefered having one single good GPU. I get no micro stutter that way.

[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]

[quote="Marine-RX179"][quote="Gibbo"]79xx shall be far far more expensive, which will have no effect on current 69xx pricing. 78xx not due until feb/march. 69xx stocks running low now, doubt there shall be any major price move, can't guarantee against it but seriously doubt it. Postmortem123

sigh...considering your guys are going to sell the new gen card soon and already ordered the stocks, I guess your comment pretty much confirms the rumours of 79xx is going to be expensive as hell.

Ugh.

Yep, looks like it's gonna cost around the £500 mark.

the euro pricing for an ASUS hd 7970 pre-ordered is 700 euro's

Less microstutter.
Even with single cards microstutter is still there though it usually isn't noticeable.

Wont let me link so you have to copy paste. It's also Dutch so you probably will have to translate also.
