Yeah so I have a 8 by 4 FOOT rear-projection media room with surround sound..... So my question is if I add in HD DVD how much better would my movies be? Would it be worth dropping $180?

The format wont last very long, its not worth it. Buying a Blu Ray player would be a better choice.

Well, considering Best Buy has a deal where you get Heroes ($100), 2 movies instantly ($50) and 5 more by mail ($125), I'd say it's worth spending $180.

i'm kinda in the same boat. I have a 720p Panny plasma. Would a 1080p hd-dvd player look great, or would it be wasted on my 720p native? Would the purchase be worth it? I saw a hd player running on a 720 at BB and it looked great. Just wanted to clear it with you guys first.

I'll put it into perspective for you guys, this is just my opinion however. I watch all my HDM on a 32" 720p Samsung LCD, the $550 for the HD-A1, and $549 for the 20GB PS3 and the cost of the 57 HD movies i have bought so far have all been worth the improvement to me. Mind you I am a major movie buff.

^ Awesome, i wanted a 32'' Sammy LCD but then my dad saw a 42'' DLP for the same price so we got that one :D I don't think the picture is as great, but i think the size is worth it, i can't wait for some gaming and HD movies. Maybe if i win the lotto i'll replace it with a 42'' Pioneer plasma :)

Get the 720P/1080i Toshiba player, there's no point with that TV. And i'm sure it will look fantastic. P.S. I'm pretty sure both camps have deals going for 5 free movies if you buy a qualifying player. (PS3 is one of them) :D
