S-Video, if I'm not mistaken, outputs only in standard def (480i), so no, you need at least component or VGA.

Component are the ones that come with the video card right? The ones that are blue red and green?

Like the other people said, s-video is only 480 so it's not HD and VGA is limited because it is still an analog signal but I don't remember the exact specs. VGA will downgrade the image and not display in "true" HD quality but better then S-vide. Also, what format are you trying to watch HD movies from? If it's movies on you HDD or the internet you should have no problem if you watch them using a DVI or HDMI cable, if your TVand graphics cardhave a port for it. If you are trying to watch HD movies off an internal drive, you need to watch out for HDCP support. HDCP is an encryption used on HD and BlueRay DVDs when the DVD is being viewed using either a DVI or HDMI cable. It will scamble or black out the image if all components are not HDCP compliant. Not all LCD monitors are HDCP compliant and some old GPUs also don't support HDCP. Your HDTV should not have a problem but your graphics card might. Again, this only applys to HD and BlueRay DVDs.

thanks for the replies, do you guys know what the maximum quality you can get from streaming HD Movies from a computer to a xbox 360 hooked to an HDTV? I'm trying to convert a 10Gb HD Movie in MKV to WMV and its going to take like 10 hours :) I'm using Videora Xbox 360 Converter

I have no idea what kind of quality loss if any there might be by streaming through the 360 to the TV. Make sure you have the Extender Manager Program and everything to run Media Center from your PC to the 360. Running media center from your pc through your 360 is a resource and bandwidth hog. It likes to get bogged down if you switch between movies or skip back and forth. I works best when loading a movie and just letting it play. best of luck to you.
