i have a hd4850, and im wondering what kind of performance people have been getting out of it. specifically in crysis and world in conflict, and other recent games.

i have a pentium 4 3.4ghz processor, so i am wondering what my card will do with a better processor. i am gonna upgrade, probably to a e8400 when i have the money.

thanks

If you get the e8400, you will experience a great boost in performance. Single core cpu's are outdated now. But, not sure how you will run crysis. Probably on high, also matters what resolution you game at.

I just ordered one myself. I heard it should run pretty much all games at max settings, except for Crysis, which should run at high settings. But you'll *need* a better processor. An e8400 would help an insane amount.

haha ye i thought it would. i only play games at 1024x768 resolution. and i have had crysis running on mostly medium with some high settings pretty well. the only problem i have with getting a new processor is i will probably need a new motherboard, and therefore a new case :( and i have very little money.

the fsb on my motherboard is 800mhz i think. would that greatly restrict the performance of a e8400?

I've been playing Crysis at 1680x1050 with the "very high" dx9 mod and the Natural Mod. I also have my 4850 overclocked a little bit. I have been getting over 30fps most of the time. The Assault level has been the only level it's dipped lower than that so far. With high settings, it's usually around 40fps.

P4 motherboards do not support dual core processors. You are going to have to most likely upgrade your CPU, MOBO and RAM.
