The link above has a range of benchmarks, but in most of them, this new card seems to run slower than the HD4870 (which is now cheaper) and the GTX260

It would be fine providing they brought down the price. DX11 and direccompute are nice but for most people price/performance is the most important thing.
Yeah, for me personally, if i was upgrading my GPU (which i dont plan to) id be more inclined to get the HD4870 or GTX260.It would be fine providing they brought down the price. DX11 and direccompute are nice but for most people price/performance is the most important thing.

The problem with the 5770 is that they made them with a 128bit memoery interface.
It has all its goodies of the 5xxx series like dx11 and eyeinfinity, but its perfomance its going to lack due the memoery interface.
This is aswell for the 5750.
New drivers may help, but it wont do much.
yep it sure is disappointing cause we should have expect it to run at HD4890 1GB not a Rival to 260GTX 892MB / replacenet of HD4850 512mb taht is 100$ for a 150-160$ HD5770 With DX11 Computing : it sure tough if game are DX11 it perhap may Give better Result then those Current Benchmark

62fps HD5770 1GB vs 66fps (4890 1GB)
Because from what i heard of DX11 It Will have post-processing and other factor that may lead to +20-60% increase in fps that should make HD5770 1GB as good as HD4890 1GB on Several Benchmark for few Game that are DX11 By 2010 Q2 / Q3 with newest ATI CCC Drivers ect.
but i ain't sure those are like a theory to me for now
Cause HD5770 is sure deceiving with is 128-bits even tough it got 1GB GDDR5
Yeah ATI screwed up this time. In the UK HD5770 is about £115 but you can get HD4870 for £95 and GTS250 can be found for £80. What's the point??? Both older cards are much better value/performence and I and most users don't care about the power consumption and DX11. Isn't newer tech suppost to be better than old tech. Total and utter fail by ATI on the 57** series.
I don't know how people can say its failure on ATI's part that the 5770. It consumes nearly 70w less of power under load and is SLIGHTLY less powerful than 4870. Not to mention 5770 can OC like a mofo. Not to mention newer technology.
This was amazing on ATI's part for developers because they launched their entire line up of cards for the most part for DX11. Now DX11 is affordable from the start and developers may be more inclined to use it. This was always the problem with DX10.
A bigger part of the failure of DirectX 10 was the fact that Nvidia's cards didn't fully meet the DirectX 10 requirements set forth by Microsoft, and the fact that Vista wasn't (isn't?) exactly popular. This was always the problem with DX10.

well it is pretty cheap, but I think the best cards to get from ati (bang for buck)are the 4870 or 4890 still.

RayvinAznSo you'd stick yourself with an old (or really old, in the case of the GTX 260) API just to get a few extra frames in a few games? There's more to smart graphics card purchasing than just graphs you know.
DX10 isn't an old API in real terms. In fact, many games coming out now are still based on DX9 rendering, which can still look pretty darn good. An API doesn't become "old" until it's proven outdated by the game developers.
I'd expect a much faster adoption of DirectX 11 compared to DirectX 10 - and many of the features included in the DirectX 11 are much more appealing to game developers than many portions of the DirectX 10 API. Microsoft talked about DirectX 10 a lot - but we've got a lot of game developers on board with DirectX 11 and are pretty excited about it. Add to that the general excitement about Windows 7, the much wider availability (in terms of price) of DirectX 11 hardware, and we're looking at an API that may very well kill off DirectX 9 on big-name titles within a few years.DX10 isn't an old API in real terms. Anyone who has a 4770, 4850. 4870. or a 4890 and buys a 5000 card right now is stupid, if you really need to post on the interwebs abut your new card... LIE and save your money. There might be need for it in 6-12 months, but I really doubt it.
well the 4850 is starting to show its age in some games... heck I went from a 4850 to a 4890. Now if I had a 4890, well Id be buying a 5850 just for crysis lol (I wouldnt).Anyone who has a 4770, 4850. 4870. or a 4890 and buys a 5000 card right now is stupid, if you really need to post on the interwebs abut your new card...
