Hey guys just wondering of the 5770 would be a healthy upgrade from the 8800gt. I usually play Napolean Total War which is the only really graphics intensive game i play for now. I run it at 1360x768.

I don't think it's worth it, especially at that resolution. I'd use the money towards a nice monitor, as you're not going to see much of a difference between the two cards save for DX11 support.

well im not gonna buy a new monitor due to me only wanting one Tv/Monitor at a time. I use my tv as my monitor and will not replace it until it goes out. I have limited space in my room so i only have room for one monitor/Tv at a time.

Just throw the other one out? -_-My 8800gt Gave out after almost 3 years, so I had to purchase a New card STAT. Since it was a quick decision, I went ahead and bought a 5770. Im actually quite impressed with it. Its definately a better card. You will see a difference. My main objective though - is to run it Crossfire. One card does a noticibly great job , but 2 should definately do great.
However - if youre just looking to get an upgrade. Go with the 5830. that is if ur buying ona budget. The 5830 is around and even under $200.00. Id personally prefer to get the 5850 , but thats just out of my budget. So if ur truely wanting to see a difference, and dont have teh extra money - grab the 5830 , and plan on going crossfire in the future.
Has anyone looked at the OP's monitor resolution? The 8800GT he's currently got can max Crysis at 1360x768 without much issue. Upgrading to a GTX 460 or 5850 would be an entirely stupid upgrade option until the OP is able to get his hands on a higher resolution monitor.

It would be even more stupid if he upgraded to a 5770, because the perf increase isn't that great and if he gets a better monitor it probably won't be able to handle it all that great.

But by upgrading his monitor, he'd see an immediate increase in picture quality even if he had to tone down the detail settings somewhat. Upgrading to a GTX 460 would yield no tangible difference in visual quality or performance unless the OP is looking towards it's DX11 capabilities.

I'm not saying he shouldn't upgrade his monitor.
Only saying that a 5770 upgrade is a nono.
The 8800 GT can technically max Crysis, but I've found framerates to be disappointing with Very High DX10 even at 1024x768. The game is still pretty demanding. Then again, I expect a constant 60 FPS-or, rather, 60 FPS minimum. I'm waiting for a single graphics card to deliver that with Crysis at least at 1280x1024, or better yet, 1600x1200.Has anyone looked at the OP's monitor resolution? What CPU do you have? If I remember correctly, my E6600 majorly bottlenecked my 8800GT SLi for total war games.Swiftstrike5
Intel Pentium E6300 @ 2.80GHzWolfdale 45nm Technology not bottlenecking my my video card as far as i know. Im getting 60fps on WOW and have no problems running Napolean:total war. Only problem with a Nvidia 460 is i will need to buy a molar to pcie power connector as my power supply only has one pcie 6 pin connector. I was kinda only wanting the best videocard with one pcie connector. But if it makes no differnce will just get the 460 in the future.

ya you will se an improvment, the 5770 is on par with the gtx 260 so you can expect you frame rate to go up a bit.
its not all about the memory size guys;)

I have the the MSI 5770 , OC'd - The Very Best I can get is 1600x1200 - Enthusiast , no AA. And it gets from 25-45fps. Averages in the 30s.Great card ,u'll enjoy it. I also bought the 5770 when my 8800gt gave up. Its a good, cheap buy. It really should be considered as the NEW 8800gt
